I wasn't expecting much when I checked the traps this morning so you can imagine my surprise and delight at seeing a pristine Bedstraw Hawk-moth (Hyles gallii) sitting in the actinic trap. A lifer for me and not one I thought I'd ever get in my Dagenham garden. @britishnatureguide.bsky.social

Two tiny very scarce moths caught today; Juniper Berry Piercer (Pammene juniperana) and Beautiful Juniper Piercer (Cydia interscindana). Both seemingly breeding in my juniper tree. @britishnatureguide.bsky.social

No sign of any migrants in my Dagenham garden this Autumn, in fact hardly any moths at all but I was surprised to see this Banded Honeysuckle Leaf-miner (Phyllonorycter trifasciella) sitting by the trap last night. With honeysuckle a couple of feet away, it may have only just emerged.
