Some random Alices from doujinshi designs I liked. I used the left one as inspiration for my drawings, but I really love the more mature look from the other as well.
The curse of seeing many different nice designs makes it hard to decide on my own.

One of the largest structures in the known cosmos is hidden behind gas & dust in our galaxy.

A new study pierces the gloom & reveals the true extent of the Vela Supercluster: over 300 million light years wide, more than 100,000x as massive as the Milky Way. 🧪🔭

New Model Defines An Upper Limit To Planetary Radiation Belt Intensity - Astrobiology We all know that stars radiate light and much more. But radiation belts can also surround many other celestial bodies, such as planets.

anyways its inexplicably so funny to me how charon is basically an ariel clone. like, pluto went to þe kuiper belt store and couldnt afford a real ariel so it just bought a knockoff instead

no seriously whats up wiþ u charon

A second visit to Eps Ind Ab with JWST: new photometry confirms ammonia and suggests thick clouds in the exoplanet atmosphere of the closest super-Jupiter With JWST, we are directly imaging cold (~200-300K), solar-age giant exoplanets for the first time. At these temperatures many molecular features appear and water-ice clouds may condense and affect th...

Also in today's arXiv is another Epsilon Indi A b paper (arxiv.org/abs/2603.08780) offering complementary results. Good arXiv day today!

Seeing that the two papers share several authors, I and friends have been wondering — does your orbital fit also use JWST obs used in this other paper?

Check out my new work on eps Ind Ab, presenting the most detailed characterization of a cold gas giant exoplanet to date! We image the planet at five new wavelengths with JWST, find evidence for enhanced metallicity, search for water clouds, and test evolutionary models! arxiv.org/abs/2603.08787

So today the IAU officially renamed Charon's iconic north pole from "Mordor Macula" to "Neverland Regio"…

Not sure why it's renamed now, even though "Mordor" has been in scientific use for over a decade.

Everyone I've talked to hates the new name lmao. This'll take time getting used to…

I wish they could've used the new observations from both papers in their fits.. Each uses their own observations on top of archival data, and produce their own fits which are...pretty inconsistent with each other, specifically the semi-major axis.

Iota Pavonis - Wikipedia

I created a Wikipedia article on this star! I wonder if the lack of a Wiki page makes people unaware of its binary nature.

A drawn fanart of Hatsune Miku from Vocaloid.

She’s has cyan-turquoise color hair two long twin tails, black headphones with pink and yellow lights, two black & pink twin square shaped pony tail clips (?), cyan-turquoise eyes, a grey shirt with cyan-turquoise neck tie, a black thigh short skirt with cyan-turquoise stripe at the bottom, black long boots with cyan-turquoise strips at the top of the boots.

She’s reaching out one hand out to the viewer while the other hand is touching her headphones, she’s smiling while in a white background with a pink stylized square with a music sheet and music notes in it

From our 2026 vantage point, a 2033 launch window for Neptune feels rather close... but it's encouraging to see this ambition for an Ice Giant mission!

Wouldn't it be cool if I write a simple text-based game in Python about space colonization?

I wonder what the best kinds of locations for building a space colony would be. Feels it'd be hard to beat cold giant planets and their usually extensive and resource rich satellite system.

A scenario I can think of is that the home planet is now occupied by some sort of hostile entity (whether that be some sort of magical virus, or hostile AI hunting humans) that is confined to the planet. Nevermind how you might bring virus to your new planet, or the AI might just send spaceships.

i don't like it when sci-fi media has people spending years or decades living in a spaceship travelling to some faraway habitable planet that is supposedly the only place they can live on. you're clearly capable of living in a habitat for extended periods of time, why not instead go somewhere with -

Iota Pavonis (G0V, 17.79 pc) has a low mass stellar companion at ~9 au. Earth-like planets are unlikely to form around it. Please make sure to adjust your travel itinerary accordingly.

Good news: @astrosky.eco is now fully hosted in the EU, by an EU company! 🔭

I wanted to migrate to a more cost-efficient server layout anyway, so I figured why not also move out of the US while we're at it 🎉

It's always funny what gets left out of "tradition" and "the West"

Mesopotamia: Reams of poetry written by a trans woman, epic about trauma, grief and failure.

Greece: Queer loss and the futile brutality of war, societies brought to ruin by aristocratic pride. Also everything Sappho wrote.
