Hi Katie, we published a study about this at UCL last year with @planet4589.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s41... The anthropogenic influx of aluminium from the space industry is already larger than the natural amount from dust and meteors.
They found a way to litter from space
Colleague: "I'm a pretty goofy, light-hearted person. So I don't know why I like researching all this dark, heavy stuff about oppression, violence, and injustice."
Me: *nods in metalhead*
I feel like the same way that we cut through the lies & excuses of rapists & abusers by saying โlisten to women!โ, we need to do the same with what is going on & what is developing in Gaza - & how legacy & modern media try to spin it all - by saying: Listen to Gazans! Listen to Palestinians!
I'd stupidly assumed that after decades of Hollywood movies we'd all learned to pick up on evil vibes immediately
They are really not hiding the ball here
A preview of the book A Periodic Table of Greek Mythology by Working Classicists. It reads: "Chaos was not a whole lot of nothing, but of everything, a giant blob of undifferentiated stuff. This unity was not harmonious, but a conflict of elements in a legal sense, requiring the intervention of a โgod and better natureโ to do it justice by separating everything out, sorted into its proper place."

On Mescalero Apache Tribe letterhead: MESCALERO Apache Tribe P.O. Box 227 108 Central Avenue Mescalero, New Mexico 88340 TRIBE Office: (575) 464-4494 Fax: (575) 464-9220 STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT THORA WALSH-PADILLA ON IMMIGRATION INCIDENT INVOLVING A TRIBAL MEMBER As of 3:45 PM this afternoon, the Tribe verified only a single incident where an ICE January 23, 2025 Mescalero, NM Last night and throughout the day today, I received multiple calls from concerned Mescalero Apache Tribal Members in relation to rumors of incidents involving Tribal Members and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. agent questioned a Tribal Member in a public place in Ruidoso. This incident occurred yesterday. ICE agents began questioning a family standing in line in front of the Tribal member. The family was escorted outside. Then, an ICE agent still inside the public place approached the Tribal Member in Spanish. The Tribal Member responded by stating the Tribal Member spoke English. The ICE agent asked the Tribal Member for a passport. The Tribal Member presented a picture of a New Mexico Driver's License and a Tribal identification card. The ICE agent did not continue questions at this point and exited. While this is the only incident we have been able to verify. Tribal leadership is actively working with the New Mexico Congressional Delegation to ensure that the rights of Tribal Members are protected. To be safe, be aware of your surroundings, let family members/friends know where you are, and keep identification with you at all times. If possible, then carry multiple forms of identification (driver's license, state-issued identification card, Tribal identification card, Certificate of Indian Blood, etc.). ICE is trying to deport Native American people to Mexico. This one from the Mescalero Apache Tribe.
That's right. People indigenous to the United States, tribal members. ICE is trying to remove them from the US.
This is the second verified incident I've heard about.
We were here 1st.

Calling out a leftists for helping out unhoused people who are republicans isnโt the gotcha you think it is.
Abandoning people who need outreach and education the most is how we got here.
But hey, thanks for telling on yourself. Good to know youโre just as cruel as the people you hate.
To anyone saying itโs just a Roman salute โ go ahead and salute in public! Go on, do it! Salute everyone you meet. Iโm sure theyโll be thrilled.
Oh so in the US one can perform the โRomanโ salute just fine, but a pastor calling for mercy, a virtue actually celebrated by Romans (clementia), is too much?
A snippet from the book A Periodic Table of Greek Mythology. It reads: Today, authors interested in retelling Daphneโs story have tried to help her regain her agency, either by making her a fierce warrior or by having her fight back in tree form.
Alicia stands in front of a grey wall. She has red hair and is wearing a blue shirt with embroidered flowers on it.

A horrific image of a someone who seems to have his hands tied behind his back. A big cat (the predator kind, not the overfed pet kind) has jumped up at him and is devouring his face. Blood splashes on the floor.
For Blue Monday we can't think of anything more appropriate than this charming depiction of a man getting his face eaten off by a leopard.

Said this over on twitter but photogrammetry is so useful!!! Give us accessible exhibits and reduce damage to artefacts!!!

art by flaroh illustration. Five people sit around a table in a cozy room. Green boughs hang from the wooden beams of the ceiling and further boughs decorate the shelves surrounding the table. Golden light streams in from a window where a snowy scene can be seen outside. Two of the five people face the viewer, with two facing either side, and the fifth one facing away. The facing two are a man and woman, the woman cheering with her glass and the man holding a sigillaria gift. Everyone is in good cheer and on the table is roman bread and servings of pork and grains. There is also a amphora of wine resting against the fifth persons chair. On the surrounding shelves are statuettes of gods including Saturn and the house lares, and there is a painted board of Mithras. Many lamps light up the room.
Art by flaroh illustration. Two romans walking through a snowy evergreen forest. In the background is a lit Roman altar. The man is wearing long sleeve shirt and leggings under his tunic and is lifting his bearskin cloak over the head of the woman. The woman is wearing a red stola with a red and green scarf wrapped overtop.
art by flaroh illustration. A roman man and woman stand outside of their house in the Vindolanda vicus. It is snowing and evening so the palette is gold and purple. In their fenced off yard is a white cow, and behind you can see the neighboring house. The neighbours are walking over, holding an amphora and cups of wine, and very jolly. The roman man and woman are waving them over, indicating they are joining together for a party. The Roman woman is holding a cat.
