I accept whatever fate befalls me.
I've been threatening to do it for a while now, but I've always chickened out.
Today, I finally worked up the nerve to do it.
I found the inner strength to teach in my Heelys.
Let's hope that I don't break my neck.

"Among this multitude might I not discover the Primal Plant [Urpflanze]? There certainly must be one. Otherwise, how could I recognize that this or that form was a plant if all were not built upon the same basic model?"

I've been following the New Orleans Pelicans religiously since 2014.
I believe that I may be one of twelve individuals to accomplish this impressive feat of endurance/ self-hatred.
Sweet! I will let you know as soon as I figure out the days and times.
@deliriousdev.bsky.social ?
Am really reallt not trying to toot my own here because am feeling, theoretically and academically, speechless, but if there has ever been any moment to take the thought of gulf thinkers and scholars seriously , now is the moment.
I will be running a reading group in June with my students at FGCU on Hegel's Philosophy of Right.
If you or your students would be interested in joining us virtually, please send me a DM!

I see what you did there!
"There is a distinct and qualitative difference between one breaking a law for one's own individual self-interest and violating it in the interests of a class of people whose oppression is expressed either directly or indirectly through that particular law. The former might be called criminal (though in many instances he is the victim), but the latter, as a reformist or revolutionary, is interested in universal social change. Captured, he or she is a political prisoner." -Angela Davis, "Political Prisoners, Prisons and Black Liberation"

If you need a macro dose of sweetness, you should check out this touching 24-minute documentary about a squirrel raised by a cat, narrated by David Attenborough.

Yes! I thought it was surprisingly nuanced in its treatment of interpersonal relationships.

Movie poster and description for Alucarda on Letterboxd
I finally got around last night to watching Juan LΓ³pez Moctezuma's 1977 film, Alucarda.
It is, without a doubt, one of the most metal films I've ever seen.

There are a lot of great books and articles on dialectical logic by Hegel scholars (and if you're familiar with Aristotle, you might check out, for instance, Allegra De Laurentiis' work on Hegel and Aristotle), but I still think there's no better place to begin than Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit.

God has no taste
I just passed by a truck with a huge 'Charlie Kirk, American Hero' bumper sticker. Fucking philistines.
It sounds to me like what Marcuse called "one-dimensionality."

Thank you!
Me too. It's been very stressful not being able to communicate with them.
Thank you, Shea. I appreciate your concern.
I just got off the phone with my sister. She told me that a hotel in the Seef neighborhood of Manama (where she lives) was just hit.
Their plan is to stay in the basement of their apartment complex for the rest of the night.
