The leader of the US military is declaring that he is comfortable committing war crimes. He should be treated as a war criminal when the time arises. Any American should understand that their country is ruled by war criminals. Also, a substantial number of Americans are comfortable with war crimes.

The President of the USA is now openly threatening Iran with being the target of one of the greatest crimes in world history. Trump is saying he will destroy the basis of life for more than 90 million people.
He should be removed from office for this.
I believe there will be elections. They will be less free and less fair. Hence my use of the word "might" in my prior post. Regardless, the actual crisis will be Nov - Jan when the results of the election will be contested and possibly ignored by a MAGA regime. That will be the actual coup.
Post-November there might be. But seating a new Congress is 9 months away.
Converting "should be" to "will be" is not realistic in the time frame that is required to further avert the accelerating catastrophe. There is no viable constitutional mechanism that doesn't intersect MAGA government control to pursue this removal under the current system of governance in the US.
The past 10 years has been one of watching bad actors end the worl in slow motion while many carry on with their lives in ignorance, denial, or willful intention. I did not know despair could be so crushing until I recognized the perpetrators were only a part of this much bigger and sadder whole.

Iβm frankly a bit surprised Trump fired Noem. It shows weakness and reminds people that accountability is possible.

MAGA lacks the capability to care for groups outside their core sense of white Christian nationalist identity. What they do to Iranians is the same as to Venezuelans, people cut off from USAID, & immigrants, trans people & citizens in the US who do not support the regime. MAGA lies, steals & kills.

From a US perspective: many modern readers lack critical thinking skills--degraded education from decades' long standardized testing & degraded information environments from decades of intentional malfeasance have lead people to completely conflate opinions and takes with news, analysis & reporting.

Hegseth wants to to fight a war of Christian Reconstruction on American soil. Given the regime's trajectory and growing domestic resistance, the limits to what will be demanded of the American war machine will surely be tested and this indoctrination will extend to MAGA's war on its own country.
Solid summary of the stakes of a war with Iran for the US waging unlawful war (not matter how odious Iran's regime has been). The impact this war will have on the Iranian people and in the surrounding region--not to mention Ukraine is incalculable. The US Iraq involvement is a warning from history.

When people debate the 2026 midterm election outcomes and the aftermath remember this DJT statement after launching a war that did not seek Congressional authorization nor public consent. MAGA aims to fight Christian nationalist war globally including on the US itself and that includes elections.
None of this ends well and also seems neverending. Bad actors acting badly. Violence perpetuating violent spectacle. Revolting sentiment without revolt.
