I'm guessing that trees that need to germinate/grow in sunny areas (after clearcut/fires) have the photosynthetic ones, while those sprouting in dense shade (under evergreens) are the storage types?

Just started reading The Birding Dictionary and am reminded of Ambrose Bierce. I've laughed aloud at the American Robin definition and then stopped to search to learn more about the Anhinga b/c my curiosity was piqued. Small book that's big on fun and learning.
