Its my plant I brought to the office. I was afraid of people damaging or messing with it so made the sign...especially my coworker's kids.
Its weird how upset some people get when told to not touch something.

How entitled are people?
Recently a client became upset that a small succulent had a sign that said "Hi, I'm (DGM's name) the emotional support plant, do not touch"
"How is it suppose to be emotional support if I cant touch it!?"
Multiple people have been upset they were told to not touch it.
I've been thinking a lot about overstimulation.
I think that (at least for this autistic fellow) we suffer from more than just SENSORY OVERSTIMULATION.
(sound, smells, etc)
I think all of THIS (gestures to the world around us) is overstimulating too.

I just learned that Endo the Blind passed away. He was an incredible horse.
May he be inspiration and an example for other blind and disabled horses for many years to come, that they are still capable of doing great things and can live happily despite their disabilities.*

He doesn't care about anyone or anything besides himself. The U.S. is unsafe and hated around the world.
It is going to take a very long time for the U.S. to heal and stabilize after he is gone.
Sunrise at a favored place on this earth. It's quiet and peaceful there. The weight of the world can be lifted away for a short time. I can look for the occasional horseshoe crab that needs rescued. I can feel sand on my bare feet. Everything is different there from day to day, but the same.

Tiny hairs with little white dots on top are the fruiting bodies of a fungal mold on rotting wood. In the background, a yellow slime mold network grows on fallen leaves.
Fungal mold (white) and slime mold (yellow), taxonomically entirely unrelated.

In blue-toned dim light, a crab dangles from the tip of the serrated jaws of a hooded merganser. This bird has brown sides with black on its back. Its neck and head are black, except for a large "hood" on the back of its head that can expand and contract. Its visible eye is a pumpkin orange color. Its beak is long and narrow, and on the inside has small serrations for grabbing prey.
This small crab was breakfast for this handsome hooded merganser on a cold mid-January morning

I was told that one of my coworkers is on a "parasite cleanse".
At first I thought it was just them taking worm medication since they live on a farm or some woo nonsense.
NOPE!
They ingested a parasite to lose weight ๐ฑ๐คข๐คฎ

Northern Californiaโs first condor egg in 100 years reported in redwood tree
Who COULDNโT use some good news? โ Scientists with the Yurok Tribe say that two of dozens of condors released to the wild in Humboldt County since 2022, to reestablish the endangered birds, have paired up, built a nest in a redwood tree and appear to be tending to an egg.โ

I captured these one year ago today on the 1st March 2025. One of my most memorable mornings out in nature, where the conditions and light combined into the most spectacular photographs. It still feels like yesterday.
A great horned owl perches at the top of a tree, silhouetted by a pink cloud after at sunset
Whenever work gets me down this week, I'm going to look at this photo and remember work doesn't matter and can't hurt me

just became aware of this--the regime wants to clear-cut massive chunks of Oregon's old growth forests in the name of timber production.
you have until March 23rd to comment.
i know we have endless fucking things to scream at politicians about--this is an important one too.
Trans rights are human rights. ICE should be abolished. The president is a sex offender and formalizing turning the US into a fascist state. Ukraine and Palestine both deserve our support and political will. The climate crisis and biodiversity crises are real. Musk = asshole. Did I forget anything?

Wow! What an incredible photo and experience. That focus and expression is so intense. I'm glad it was hunting something else and not you.
One thing I really like about my current job is that I get to see nature change and notice things I didn't while working nights. A portion of my commute is by a river and I have noticed pairs of eagles and a nest ๐ฆ
Its also really nice to not dodge deer every night and see lots of sad roadkill ๐

My dog Halo sleeping on a yellow blanket on our orange couch. He is a white and tri Jack RussellxChihuahua mix. He is turning 15 this year, I've had him since he was 5 weeks old he js old, with some noticeable benign tumors in this photo. He is also wearing a blue belly band because he has occasional incontinence.
I finally have 2 days off in a row, so I'm at home relaxing with my pets. We are about to nap on the couch ๐ค
Halo is happy I'm home. My spouse and I usually work 8-11 hr days, 6 days a week. The pets don't get a lot of people time but the busy season won't last forever.
