Tonight's #lapidary adventures -- cut this really interesting banded ironstone(?) that came off looking like overcooked bacon, but polished up gorgeously under the lapidary wheels. The burnt red-oranges pop out so dramatically.

And tonight's #lapidary post: I found some lovely Greenschist a while back rockhounding and oh my GOSH it turned out so lovely, the fine grits really brought out that dark green to it all.
The stone cut well into two cabs, one fat and one thinner.

This fun aggregate stone last week came out and polished up like a Toblerone. Very milk chocolate brown and white nougat colors.
It took a really high gloss shine from the cerium. Very happy.
Did maybe a contract instructor bring it in and leave it and she used it? We dunno. But absolutely nobody in the building (it's not a big building nor a big group) has ever seen that piece of equipment in the building, except this one instructor.
So I dunno. Obviously she did a multiverse or what?
"I've been using the one in that classroom for a year," she says, blinking at me. "It just wasn't here today."
I give the benefit of the doubt. Maybe, homehow, I missed the sizable piece of equipment that was under the table? I ask the other staff. I ask the cleaners. I ask other instructors.
"We have never had one of those in this building," I say. "None to my knowledge. I know because that specific (piece of equipment) we *do* use at another office of ours, but we don't use here. We examined using them here and discarded it, they aren't good for the training we do."
Nope. Never found the quarter. Never heard it land. It was just gone. Fucking fae wormholed or some shit.
Today, an instructor who has worked here for over a year asks "Hey, where did (specific piece of equipment in my classroom) go?"
We stare at her blankly.
