I wish main character syndrome was terminal
Game Masters!
When your players are making new characters, do you have any limitations you typically tend to use?
Way back, I let one of my players make a Minotaur and it was very unbalanced to say the least.
I soon found out that player was extremely good at min-maxing. Oopsie ๐คท

Had a relative suggest I should take on gig work through Fiverr and then brag about how he convinced his dad to buy a Cybertruck so I'm not sure I trust his suggestion of gig work now.
I know it's not a ton in the grand scheme of things but I managed to get nearly 1000 words down on paper in one sitting for a TTRPG video I'm working on and it felt good.
Baby steps! ๐ค

Oh cool!
I'll have to take a look into you guys :)
Thank you! ๐ค๐ค
If you run #dnd online, what's your VTT of choice?
So far I haven't found one that feels perfect, but Foundry VTT does feel good. I don't need my VTT to calculate rules, just that it be a fairly streamlined visual experience that allows players to talk, text, and move their to tokens around.
This looks SO cool ๐ฎ
I'd love to make my own custom GM screen for D&D 5e.
The one WotC sells doesn't feel like it covers the ground it needs to. 1/3 of it is taken up by conditions, what's up with that?
Sometimes I feel like they don't actually use their own products lol

If you also have an ADHD riddled brain, how do you track your abilities & spells, especially at higher levels when there's lots to manage and not much space on the character sheet?
Do you memorize?
Do you write details on cue cards?
Do you list the PHB page number for reference?

Don't have anything planned for tonight's TTRPG session?
Just over describe any one object in the room the PCs are in and let them investigate it for hours ๐

I didn't know about Session Zeros until just a few years ago. But once I had, I knew it was something I'd do the next time I ran a campaign.
GM's out here on threads, any tips for running a proper Session Zero?

What are your biggest pain points in D&D 5e combat?
In 5e, it seems every class has a wide range of abilities, which overall, I like, but it can slow things down.
Do you think each class has "too much" to do or maybe it's an issue of how it's presented & organized?
What do you think?

Want to throw a dumb joke into your D&D campaign? Here's the dumbest one of all ๐คฃ
This is probably the silliest thing I've made in a LONG time.
In case it wasn't obvious, I hate this vehicle.
Drive it into the middle of an encounter and have fun!
Feel free to use, re-skin, alter, tear apart ๐ค

Mechanics based flaws are great for offering concrete ways your character can grow but these flaws rarely progress without levelling up.
Give your TTRPG character flaws!
Personality flaws offer a grand range of opportunities for you to truly breathe life into your character.
Playing D&D "optimally", for me, is the quickest way to have less fun.
Roleplay your flaws!
Give yourself room to play & grow๐ค๐ฒ

That's an awesome idea ๐ฎ
I might have to give that a try!
Does your GM have a specific way they begin each session to recap and get everyone back into the swing of things?
My last GM would narrate his recap like the beginning of a DBZ episode and it was awesome ๐ค
"Last time on D&D!"

Lately, every time I open these apps, I see someone posting about their first ever D&D/TTRPG game and I love that.
I'm so happy this hobby is out for everyone to enjoy.

While D&D 3e will always hold a special place in my heart, I think the changes made in 5e have been for the better.
Especially for new players.
Anyone who's played 3e knows the pain of watching the light die in your friends eyes as you begin to explain skill ranks.

I could do chores OR I could boot up Hero Forge and build every single D&D character I've ever had over the past 25 years. ๐ค

Great way to start!
The last character I played came about this way and I ended up with a Bearfolk cleric that I absolutely loved creating & playing :)
Do you like to begin with the visual look or overall vibe/concept first?
Or maybe you're a monster and you roll stats first ๐
What's your starting point for character creation in D&D/TTRPGs?
I like to start visually. Playing with Hero Forge or drawing to spark ideas. The main character concept usually pops into my head during this.
Oh totally ๐ค
Oh absolutely, I think it would be a tough sell if they pulled the item out of their ass lol
But if it was something already established, and it was made into a good character moment, I'd love to see it happen in a game :)
I feel the same way :)
I think if it's justified as a character moment and it makes sense within the story, I'd 1000% encourage it.
Oh wow, those look sick! ๐ค
And what a wonderful excuse to buy loads more dice lol
GM's, what are your thoughts on breaking the rules for spell components with monetary values?
If a PC is casting Revivify and wants to use an item of personal significance they consider priceless in place of the typically required diamonds, would you let it happen?
#dnd
Please send dice bag pics :)
A friend of mine made these three awesome bags for me. A burger, cat, and mushroom ๐ค
Lemme see yours ๐
