If the DMV said โyou have one year to get a new license; hereโs how to do it for freeโ it would still be shitty and discriminatory. But to have your license invalidated OVERNIGHT is absolutely malicious.
I've been sharing this Adrienne Rich poem with a lot of folks as we move closer to the collapse of first amendment freedoms. Please read, understand, share. It is not an answer. It is, instead, the very question we must ask and keep asking.

I'm going to sound like the biggest hater & loser in the world and I know we must do our political performance but the "look at my war ravaged Portland" photos especially from politicians are getting a little ๐ฌ when we have crisis levels of people without housing including unknown numbers of kids
Walked the dog last night and noted the constant noise of helicopters and several more unhoused young people hunkering down than Iโd seen before. Makes sense given the Fedsโ presence downtown.
This is my local indie! They supported Company multiple times (events for my hardcover and paperback books, plus an Indie Next rec) and are just all around wonderful.
If youโre buying a book, always order through an indie! If you donโt have your own, go through @loyaltybooks.bsky.social:

Friends, this book is SO GOOD!!
A woman (60s?) says: "Ted* showed me a new poem and it was awful so I rewrote it. Now he's not talking to me. Can you believe it?!"
Her friend says softly: "Liz."
She huffs: "He shouldn't have shown it to me! It's not my fault!"
"Liz."
"I owe him an apology don't I?"
Her friend nods emphatically (2)
OK this sucks and @erininthemorning.com does good work but please read her prose, not just her map. At least some pink/ orange states still provide gender affirming care for youth: they're pink because some providers no longer offer it. At least one state AG (Nessel, MI) has sued to restore it.

Just a lil reminder that art is art and publishing is publishing.
Absolutely.
Iโm in.
Ugh same!

I don't want to know sales figures while promoting a new book. I'll be giving the same 110 percent regardless and the benefits of the PR you do aren't just reflected in sales. There are strategic goals for your career that may be almost as important. Nor can your efforts be easily quantified anyway.
Very much like the demonstrations in Portland during the first term.
Can someone please tell Joni Ernst she doesnโt need to go to such lengths to realize the whole โmore corn than peopleโ thing.

TLDR i have been on HRT for basically ever. it should be covered for anyone who wants or needs it. CW boring medical information about me followed by a call to action to contact your senators in support of trans healthcare in my teens (pictured) i got rupturing ovarian cysts (high school friends said my โovaries blew upโ but honestlyโacute cases are considered as painful as appendicitis). a hormone test revealed high levels of testosterone & i was put on estrogen in โthe pillโ form which helped. at 22, i was diagnosed with a rare genetic blood clotting disorder, which meantโฆno estrogen! i raw dogged without hormones a few years, went through the worst & scariest mental health of my lifeโPCOS symptoms can mimic bipolar II, alongside the gender dysphoria that accompanied hyperandrogenism for me at that time. i went on progesterone which helped a lot for 13 years. had to discontinue it last year (because i got osteoporosis lol whoops. another story). i do still get to take spironolactone, woohoo! iโm less committed to existing at any specific place on a gender spectrum than before (and have always felt pretty reluctant to vocalize where i am on itโi float around and it just doesnโt matter to me that much). so the changes iโm feeling post-progesterone have been thankfully manageable, tho i was honestly terrified to find out
all the above healthcare in the form of HRT was essential. when it wasnโt literally lifesaving, at bare minimum made a huge difference in my quality of life itโs scary & insane to me that, in ๐๐๐๐๐ world, the only way i could have accessed this medical care is because of a meaningless (to me) gendered letter on my birth certificate slash drivers license. ANYONE who needs HRT to be the healthiest versions of themselves OR FOR WHATEVER REASON should have the same access. not just cis people! i doubt there are people who follow me on here who feel differently about this but in the off chance there are some stragglers who are not already calling and writing their senators in support of trans healthcareโฆ please call, and write, and be loud about this. link is in my bio. text on slide 2 was made by lambrinigirlz

So excited for this one!
The caprices of the ultra-elite are a fickle foundation for good work, with funds often yanked on short or no notice as the attention of the billionaires bounces elsewhere or cowardice rears its curly head.
