A screenshot of the GTLive YouTube community tab. There is a post by Stroomp that reads "ยฝ gallon milk, deli salami, large eggs if available, avocados for secret guac".
Day squixteen of Post-MatPat burnout:
YouTube added a new community feature where you can post on other channels, so I'm just gonna use the GTLive channel to list out my groceries from now on.
An MS Paint drawing of the Game Theory icon, Sans dressed as Ness, and Ness dressed as Sans; along with the caption "memy sens day 2025".
It's Sans is Ness Day! It's been nine whole years since the release of the Sans is Ness video on February 9, 2016.
To celebrate this milestone, I encourage everyone to post "Happy birthday, MatPat!"
May Sens and Nass bring you many good wishes and presents this year!
That's about all my thoughts for this video. It's fascinating to see how much things have changed since this one.
Notable people mentioned: Kirby (character)

Also, this is before Matt apparently learned how to normalize audio, so I'm finding myself turning my volume up and down mid-video. I'm glad that didn't take too long to fix for later episodes. (11/12)
I feel the message of being a source of interesting info about games "without having to put in any work of your own", as the video says, is a bit misguided. If it were me, I'd want the show to be a starting point for the audience to do more research and be interested in the topics discussed. (10/12)
There's also a hint of the weird sexual jokes in this episode that are common in early Game Theory, with a line about how you could seduce your dream boy or girl using quilting. It's not THAT bad; but it's reminiscent of later, worse jokes, so it kinda gives me the ick a little, to be honest. (9/12)
The first logo used for the show makes its debut here, and it's an interesting one. The symbolism on display is not so subtle but logically sound. However, the whole design ultimately feels like an inconsistent ransom note with its disparate elements, so I can see why it was later changed. (8/12)
... somewhat superfluous visual aid while the voice-over makes up most of the video's substance. But there will be the occasional pun in the visuals to keep those invested in them satisfied, like the use of an illustration of a well in the ground when Matt says, "WELL, now you can..." (7/12)
As this is the first video related to the Theory shows, this video marks the beginning of the "slideshow era" by default. I'd say this style (in this video, at least) is defined by its bare-bones nature of using mostly simple still images to serve as a ... (6/12)
Moving on to the visual elements of the video; in 2021, a guide to the four distinct visual editing style "eras" of the shows was established by Team Theorist. I think this guide is a good representation of the styles for now, so I'll bring them up when necessary. (5/12)
There's also a certain ironic cockiness to the tone, as if it's meant to be a parody of said infomercials, but it's unfortunately not getting that much of a laugh out of me. Maybe because I've seen it so many times; I can't say for sure. (4/12)
The tone of the video has a kind of "As Seen on TV" infomercial vibe to it, which makes sense for a pitch for a brand new show no one has seen yet, but it is a notably different tone from the rest of the series. (3/12)
I have to admit, I've watched this video so many times, that I have most of it memorized. As I'm re-watching it now, I'm repeating every word said in it as it plays. Knowing myself, this isn't too surprising. (2/12)
The thumbnail for the video in question, "Game Theory Promo". It features the first logo for the show, used in 2011. It is on a blue background, has the word "GAME" in grey capital letters in the top left corner, the first version of the "unlocked achievement" emblem with the green trophy in the top right corner, an image of an optical disc in the bottom left corner, and the word "theory" in the bottom right corner. The letter "T" in "theory" is made up of a line and a tangential arrow going over the disc, gracing it at a single point at the disc's top; and the rest of the letters in "theory" are made up of various mathetical symbols (two pi symbols for the H, a sigma for the E, et cetera).
Meh, fuck it. I guess while I'm at it, I'll give my thoughts on the "Game Theory Promo" video from 2011. The beginning of the end times, as it were.
This might get a little long, so let me know when I need to shut up. (๐งต 1/12)
... Alex Trebek, Jesus, Satan, Johanna (from Sweeney Todd), Count Dracula, Mina Harker, Lucy Westenra, Lancelot, Guinevere, Mrs. Claus, Santa Claus, Romeo, Juliet, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Frankie Avalon, and Annette Funicello.
I might do this after every Theory vid opinion going forward.
The list so far is comprised of the following people: Christina Aguilera, Kevin McHale (the basketball player), Winnie-the-Pooh, MatPat, God, Hirohito, Akira Kurosawa, Saddam Hussein, George W. Bush, Robert De Niro, John Kerry, Tony Soprano, Martha Stewart, Osama bin Laden, Sean Connery ... (2/3)
Okay, I just finished watching what I believe to be all of MatPat's videos before Game Theory, from 2003 to 2010. I say this because I started working on a very dumb project where I keep track of every person Matt's audibly mentioned who also have their own dedicated Wikipedia article. (1/3)
Hey there, quick update regarding this account.
It's been inactive due to IRL stuff, but I do plan on moving all the summaries off the shit bird app to here. However, I was also considering just posting my opinions on each episode along with the summaries. Would you be OK with that? It's OK if not.

"Game Theory: Illusion of Gaia, World Wonders"
The Illusion of Gaia, a video game about exploring sites of ancient civilizations is unsurprising accurate about ancient civilizations. Only thing the game does kind of wrong are that the Nazca lines are carved channels rather than painted & that the Inca didnโt have gold boats.
Partial screenshot of the YouTube mobile page for the video "Game Theory: Undertale - Sans's SECRET Identity!" (also known as the "Sans is Ness" video). It shows that the video was uploaded on February 9, 2016.
Big holiday coming up in 71 days. Save the date!
Not sure, to be honest. That particular part of the episode was about looking at the fire-breathing Piranha Plant weeds and trying to see if it was possible to clean out pipes using fireballs like Mario does. Maybe this is a stoner culture thing I'm not getting, but who knows.

"Game Theory: Super Mario, Pipe Dreams"
Mario and the Mushroom Kingdom are somewhere in Europe. Crabs are commonly found in sewers in Italy, turtles could live in the sewers of warmer climates than New York. A German company manufactures green pipes. Brick Sewers are common in Europe. Weed gets flushed down the toilet.
A chart categorizing different popular songs based on how similar their bass lines are to the one in the chorus of "Science Blaster" (the Game Theory theme). There are nine categories: Science Blaster, MatPat Riff, MatPat Riff plus flat seven, The Riff, Rising Sun, Rising Sun plus five, Rising Sun plus flat seven, Chromatic Descending Bassline, and Diatonic Andalusian Cadence. Examples of songs used include "Feel Good Inc.", "Hotel California", "The House of the Rising Sun", "My Sharona", "I Kissed a Girl", "Megalovania", and "Stronger".
oh also I made a Science Blaster chart.
