I hope some psychologists are in the mix, too! The denial of death, especially in SV, is wild.

I often wonder what folks like her are thinking when they put a crucifix on a chain and wear it around their necks.

Indeed, you do. Can you remind me how you arrived at your definition of religion?

The history of hijackings isn't in my wheelhouse, but it does seem as though humans are rather adept at finding justifications for doing pretty much anything. Would it be fair to say that using religion in this way might be the longest running con in history?

Too right, @daviddark.bsky.social. That is an important distinction to make.

"Jesus wasn't a Christian" shouldn't be a controversial statement to make.

Yes. Lemme note..the author's a lil out over his skis. To speak of "Christ" as *teaching* Christianity is weird. There's is no indication I know of that Jesus of Nazareth imagined his gospel (good news) was anything other than an extension of the gospel of Isaiah. But yes, Christian Zionism's wild.

Our β€˜Judeo-Christian’ Holy War The U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran has less to do with national security or even geopolitics. Rather, it has to do with religion. The War in Iran is a Judeo-Christian holy war.

If you want to understand why this war with Iran is actually happening, one must understand the weird, pseudo-relgious reasoning upon which U.S. foreign policy rests.

LA City Council’s City President Marqueece Harris-Dawson says he has been pulled over four times while a member of the council; the most recent was this week. He missed a committee meeting because of the stop, according to him.

Among the questions: β€œhow do you have this vehicle,” according to him.

TimothΓ©e Chalamet dragged by opera and ballet worlds after he said 'no one cares' about them The LA Opera, Metropolitan Opera and Royal Ballet and Opera shaded Chalamet following his comments during a live conversation with Variety magazine.

TimothΓ©e Chalamet:
β€œI don’t want to be working in ballet or opera…Things where it’s like, 'Hey, keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore.'”

Speaking as if he could work in either discipline? πŸ™„

A lack of Christians isn’t the problem.
The lack of morally serious, decent human beings is. The people in this photo are neither of those things.

This last hike reminded me that you can’t give what you don’t have. Stay grounded. Stay present, open, and awake.
