Skin graft well healed in a little finger
This patient had very severe Dupuytrens contracture with MCPJ and PIPJ of 90’ flexion each. He had no use of the little finger. I did a fasciectomy and it needed a skin graft and at only 4weeks he has a beautifully healed wound and nearly full movement. All down to the patient rehab!

Beautiful Dupuytren’s pretentious and spiral cord today with ulna digital nerve curving underneath, over the A1 pulley which was unusual. It then curved back through the middle at the PIPJ. Just when you think you know #Dupuytrens! #handsurgery

My mum is terrified so I spent my childhood being told to ‘come back from the edge’ ‘be careful because there’s a drop’ but I love heights and I love adrenaline. I felt so brave booking a flying lesson. It is so strange to break the rules your parents gave you as a child ☺️

I can STRONGLY recommend flying lessons if you aren’t scared of heights and like butterflies in your tummy… I took off and landed and even tried barrel rolls over the Isle of Wight but the wings said no… anyone out there have their Pilots License? 🛫

Ms Laura Hamilton Consultant In Trauma & Orthopaedics Royal College Of Surgeons Of England Sexual Misconduct in Surgery: RCSEngland Response 3:15 PM - 3:35 PM Biography Ms Laura Hamilton was educated at Oxford University then St. Georges before becoming an Orthopaedic Registrar on the London Training Rotation. She completed her training with an RCSE Travelling Fellowship to Hong Kong and gained a Masters in Trauma & Orthopaedics. Laura in a Consultant Hand Surgeon at Brighton Major Trauma Centre, where she is the Clinical Lead for Hands. Laura mentors surgeons across the UK, and is a Personal Tutor at Brighton & Sussex Medical School. She has published and presented extensively about improving the culture in surgery, particularly orthopaedics. She is the founder of the Women in Orthopaedics (W.ORTH) group (Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky) and is an active member of multiple panels encouraging diversity in surgery. Laura sits on the T&O Selection Design Group, which runs National recruitment of ST3 Orthopaedic surgeons. Through her work on improving diversity, Laura was elected on to the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She is Co-Chair of the Future Surgeons forum supporting medical students nationally, and is Deputy Lead for the RCSE Working Party on Sexual Misconduct in Surgery.

I love the thought process but this is the one ligament injury that wouldn’t help! Hypermobility to squeeze the wrist is a definite pro… most important skill for getting out of handcuffs is I guess being white, female, smiley, rich, friendly - anything else?!

New data from the GMC shows that for the first time there are now more female than male doctors with a licence to practise in the UK. This is a fantastic achievement and has taken 150 years to reach after women were first allowed to become medical students.

Im so sorry this happened. In the UK a ‘23 survey showed huge levels of current, sexual misconduct in surgery @collegeofsurgeons.bsky.social are working hard to address this. I’m in charge of creating the training we will provide. It’s harrowing to hear the stories but I am hopeful for the future 🙏
