"Americans prefer a car-dependent lifestyle."
I can't tell you how much I hate this glib sentiment. The only way to determine someone's true, enduring preference is to give them full familiarity with their options. Americans have no familiarity with their options! They've only seen sprawl!

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:
1) The Iraq War wonโt cost a lot of money
3) We wonโt need a lot of troops
4) Weโll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) Weโll find WMDs
6) Weโll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It wonโt take long
All lies.

Are cyclists on regular bikes going to have to turn up to court to prove they were on a normal bike, if they receive a ticket?
Is the issue ebike riders riding recklessly? If so, there are already laws against that, which are doing nothing.

Every argument I see online against public transport has someone saying that it doesn't work in rural communities and they need cars there... I don't think people realise you're not forced to use it...

The state I live in requires 4' to pass a cyclist, and that you slow down, but then they paint a 3' wide bike lane. Assuming you ride in the middle of it, vehicles pass around 2' away without slowing.

So far in May I have ridden my bike to First Friday, which had a bike valet; Ridden to, and participated in, a community ride with my local cycling advocacy group, and ridden to a spring beer garden at a local park... Life is good!

Crazy how safety is only an issue when it comes to transit. Even though driving is considerably more dangerous.

If you're a military veteran at risk of foreclosure, NPR wants to hear from you
The VA has abruptly ended the only low-interest, affordable loan modification option for thousands of vets who are behind on their mortgages. We want to hear your story.

Posted this to Reddit and got told it was my fault I got close passed. I tried to explain that the only reason I hugged the line was that I predicted they'd close pass, and they did! I was doing 20mph when they passed, for context.

A picture of a cycle computer (Coros Dura) indicating that it used 1.1% battery, but gained 0.8% using solar, for a total usage of 0.3% in 48 minutes on a clear day.
The sun is shining, I'm back on the bike, and my Coros Dura is loving life. Highly recommend this thing!

@rebcycle.bsky.social can you make a bar plug style, folding, small convex mirror? I'd like it to fold away securely when I don't need a mirror (on trails)
