I read one of #GaryEngland’s books in high school. His story of the capriciousness of TV news and program directors and the seemingly constant threat of being fired for not having the right “look” was eye opening. It pushed me away from TV weather and toward my current career. Rest in power.

The NWS is one of (often polled as the # 1) the most popular agencies in the entire government. Also, it costs a few bucks per taxpayer to fund a year.

The benefit people get out of it vs cost is insanely good. And gutting it is...extremely dangerous

Two of my current & former students were told today that their signed offers, one at a southwest NWS office (for which his experience with fire weather was key to his hiring) and another at the NWS-WDTD, were rescinded. Both posts are key to public safety, which the fêted hiring freeze was to avoid.
