A joy to see Nico Hamilton performing at this level following a year where he was sidelined by a serious, and very scary, infection in his spine that required months of treatment. What Nico's gone through to be back out here is nothing short of inspiring.
Got to have my weekly chat with one of my favorite radio hosts Chris Plank this morning on KREF

Senior Night is always special. Setting a new nation high and sending Brigham, Kelton, Ignacio and Fuzzy off in style last Saturday.
But we're all far from finishedโฆ

Ignacio Yockers earns his first-ever conference Gymnast of the Week honors (he's been Specialist many times) for his two-event title Senior Night performance.
Francisco Velez Belendez has the top rings score in the nation for the second weekend in a row, earning him Specialist of the Week honors.
Emre Dodanli is an NCAA Champion, National Champ, Olympian, and so much more. One of the best athletes, and best people, I've ever had pleasure to know
And, yes, tried to talk him out of retiring before 2028, but Emre ready to move on. Know his future outside gym beyond bright, but miss him already
As the regular season winds down and rankings switch to four-score average*, the Sooners are still on top with a 325.7
*Average 4 highest team scores, counting no more than 2 home contests
Incredibly proud to have TWO of our amazing seniors among the six Nissen-Emery Award finalists. Men's gymnastics' equivalent of the Heisman.
Congratulations to Ignacio Yockers and Fuzzy Benas!!

Thank you seniors, and thanks to Nikolai Kolesnikov (www.instagram.com/nikolaicreative/) for the great tribute.

Boomer!
Last chance this year to see your No.1 Sooners in the Field House. All six of our Seniors scheduled to compete tonight in McCasland.

Fuzzy is a joy to coach. Unflappable, even in face of adversity. He truly seems to love being in the gym, even when itโs hard.
Pure of heart, he's a kind soul, always looking for best in people. He cares so much about this team, and his teammates. It shows in every turn he takes.
What can I say about Fuzzy Benas? Tremendous talent, horrendous luck with injury, but his will to overcome never wavers, no matter how hard it gets.
Innately able to perform at the highest level, seemingly unfazed. His ability to turn it on when it matters most can't be taught.
Kelton has taken his Captain role extremely seriously. Iโve seen him grow into the position in impressive fashion, caring about his teammates sets as much as his own.
Plus, he makes me laugh. When everyone else is dying, Kelton is there with a smile on his face, hyping us all up.
Kelton Christensen is another former walk-on who earned his spot because he's a guy who is never satisfied with where heโs atโalways asking more of himself on every event.
Kelt just works, and works, and then works some more. He leads by example every day in the gym.
Fiercely loyal, with a can-do spirit, Brigham is also, unequivocally, a goofball.
Gymnastics is hard. You need that sort of light, bright energy in the gym, and Brig brings it, but never at the expense of his training or performance. Definitely going to miss that Brigham bounce.
Brigham Frentheway came in unheralded. He wanted a chance, and he ran with it, despite growing 6+ inches.
A guy who never gave up on wanting to get better. Brig is Will to Win personified. Co-captain has become an extraordinary leader and inspiration to every guy on this team.
Ignacio came in more mature than most, but watching him come out of his shell (he's funny!) over 4 years has been a privilege.
As has seeing him succeed beyond "just" pommel horse. He has plans to continue to train and represent Spain. Canโt wait to see what he accomplishes next!
Basically a genius, Ignacio Yockers is smartest guy in most every room, but youโll never hear him say that.
A pommel horse star since day one but, more than that, heโs the guy in the gym you can always count on to be calm and work on. Always ready to jump in when team needs him.
As (former) walk-on, Mac has been in unenviable position of having to fight for roster spot every year. But even when odds were long, never gave up.
Have seen him improve immensely, despite working through 3 ACL tears (2 prior to OU).
Spirit of a warrior: Mac always finds a way.
Coming from Japan, NCAA huge adjustment (training, language, culture). Overcoming major shoulder surgery made transition even more challengingโbut Leo persevered. One of most likable guys on team, and good student. Rare for athlete to graduate in 4 years studying in 2nd language.
Wanted to say a bit about these great guysโฆ
Starting with Redshirt Juniors, Leo Koike and Mac Seyler. Each have year of eligibility remaining after sitting out seasons due to injury, but both scheduled to graduate in the spring, so their plans to return, or not, still uncertain.

Every season I say, This group is special, but they truly are. From walk-ons to superstars, all 6 have faced adversity, and bravely fought through to be out here. One of the most resilient senior classes weโve had, and know theyโre hungry for more.
