Looks like AI has a problem with volume and size. Reality is the amount of trucks needed to do that would be astronomical let alone the infrastructure needed to make it possible.

Did Vikings drag ships over land to avoid choppy Scottish waters? Archaeologists have been gathering evidence of places where warships were dragged across land.

How about some portage?

If only we had clean, renewable energy and were not beholden to a dirty, expensive, dangerous commodity that pollutes our environment and is the source of most of our geopolitical woes.

Very good from Jonn Elledge and the truth is that many people on the further edges of the right have always been like that.

My crazy prediction?

Trump will do a "Mission Accomplished" thing and then blame the lack of regime change on "cowardly" Iranians not rising up and overthrowing the government.

He'll then move on to some other distraction.

I give it a week or so tops.

Fun fact: no Trump fought in any of the major wars of the 20th or 21st century.

That must be some kind of record.

I don't think you have to Nostradamus to figure that bombing Iran might raise oil prices. And it seems pretty obvious that buying oil in advance of causing an oil price spike might just save Americans a lot of money. But...

...maybe there wasn't much planning?

@ottoenglish.bsky.social @allshorts.bsky.social @richardknott.bsky.social Not sure if I said, a few days after the attack on Iran, when fuel prices first went up, my friend's fuel bill went up £20,000 a day, he could be looking at £40k to £60k. He even trades fuel in advance if he can get it cheaper

6/- it is well known before this war the USA had limited supplies of tomahawk cruise missiles due to supply chain issues but above all the DOD/congress not ordering more & letting production line almost closed down so any more orders are leading to shortages of supply parts and trained personnel

09.03.2026 10:58 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

5/- thinking some more I not sure if the submarine let a lone the UK version of the tomahawk cruise missiles can be fitted or work with USN ship MK41 vertical launch system without having to be returned to the USA for maintenance, upgrades and rework to fit and work.

09.03.2026 10:53 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

4/- they need a harbour and certain equipment to remove the tomahawk cruise missiles and then reload them onto another American ship or submarine.
