There's been 168 since then, in (given a somewhat "normal" lifespan) a collection of maybe 1000 that you'll be blessed to have the opportunity to see in a lifetime. Always felt like that was a very humbling thought. Treasure each one, as well as all the "stuff" that comes in between them :)

Some of it's pretty weird, at least for my current needs - you can generate an audio response, and it creates it in the form of a podcast, or a movie, and at least in my limited experience, it's almost comical. But, I imagine there are useful applications for this. @leahwrenn.bsky.social

#NotebookLM . With 30+ years of many thousands of personal R&D documents, it's impossible to search and find what I'm looking for. Google has a very interesting app, NotebookLM, that facilitates querying (memory jogging) these docs in subsets. Some may find this very useful

In 1976, I loved working as student laborer for NPS at Fire Island, pounding cores, as part of project to show that the barrier islands were "eroding landward." I'm assuming your strip of the Cape is doing the same thing? Geologists are so danged cool :)

It's always humbled the hell out of me that no matter what we've done on our planet, Earth has rotated in this way every damned day, providing an opportunity for a fresh start. And it dates back so far before us, so far before life itself. It just keeps happening.

I love the Marconi station! I was an active shortwave radio listener in the early 1970s and I remember the thrill when my Dad took us out there once.

I know little of Allard, but I love that you are able to find connection outside of political positions. I barely know you, but you got my respect on this one. Seems like the only sane way forward in times like this.

Right purty Sunday morning for 3.4 mile run/walk (more like shuffle in Sorels) in #Fairbanks #Alaskasky (Disclaimer: Chena Pump bank thermometer reads about 7F colder than actual under these conditions).

I tell you what, these -35F to -40F days just around the solstice are some of my favorite times of the year for walks. These were taken at 2:15pm, half an hour before sunset (after 11 am sunrise), in #Fairbanks #Alaskasky There's a magic in it all.

Naked Science | The Rocky Mountains Were Once Underwater, Hereβs What Happened
YouTube video by The Full Series Channel
Wow, I've watched a lot of geology documentaries, but this one has some wonderful animations on the evolution of the Rocky Mountains, and help to understand so much of the detail you see when you roam those parts. Highly recommend if you're interested -- youtube.com/watch?v=TGnDsZwAtRY

It was a right fine autumn Sunday morning for the Chena Ridge / Chena Pump loop above the Tanana (and Chena) River in #Fairbanks #Alaskasky. On peaceful old fart Sunday mornings like this, I like to contrast with Sunday Morning Coming Down of decades ago --

Back around 1982 I remember buying at a local Great Falls, MT bookstore the definitive, seminal work on driving etiquette, "How to Drive Like a Selfish Bastard." It specifically said on this topic, "Don't use turn signals, it's nobody's business where you're going."

Am I missing something? Adding your proposed edits seems essentially like definitively casting a possibility as a sure outcome. You know what they say about making predictions, especially about the future :)
I thought ADN piece was well done, but of course more local detail than expected in NYT
