Capcom feels like a company where shitty mistakes only happen 'cuz of existential obligation.

Like, they're so excellent for so long, it kinda feels like perfection sometimes.

But then: 'wait being perfect is bad!' ...and a stupid fuckup poofs outta thin air just because "nothing can be flawless".

I was asked to return for Mega Man: Dual Override, but only on the condition I work without the protections of a union contract.

This is the kind of condition they can take now that they’re able to pit non-union labor *AND* AI against traditional talent. It is not good for anyone we’re devaluing labor and skill and worker’s rights at this pace.

The only way to enforce non-union contracts like this involves personally taking giant companies like Capcom to court and suing if I thought they'd used AI. I don't have the mental, emotional, or monetary strength to survive a protracted legal fight.

I truly wish Capcom was at least willing to speak with SAG-AFTRA about doing this game union.

I expressed that I'd even be willing to work on a LOWER-budget union contract if it meant this flipped.

It genuinely wasn't about the money for me.

Did a double take when I saw this email.

For what this means, it's basically that the client began the process to make it a union game, alerting its cast that it would be union, but then did not actually complete the process to do so.

These notices can be rescinded should everything be fixed.

Sadly what I expected from Capcom.

Mega Man 11 was a Union game, and had a Union contract and all its protections.

This means at some point Capcom actively chose to go back on a standard that had already been set and go BACK to NU (with no ENFORCEABLE protections).

Ben did not give this role up willingly. He’s trying to protect VO.

If you’re a fan/consumer, I implore you to think about why a company that already agreed to SAG-AFTRA’s reasonable requests would suddenly opt to not want to adhere to them anymore.

If you’re a fellow actor - please think very, very carefully about what this means if you choose to audition for it.
