Every completely sustainable industry is going to crumble unnecessarily and prematurely because they have evidently been hijacked by the greediest people known to man that evidently never went to business school.

β€˜Project Hail Mary’ Review: An Awe-Inspiring Sci-Fi Spectacle, Fueled by Ryan Gosling’s Star Power Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, directing their first film in twelve years, have returned with a crowd-pleasing wonder.

Consider me a fan of Lord and Miller's PROJECT HAIL MARY, a film that evokes the best parts of STAR TREK.

My review of a film with wit, wisdom, and a lot of distracting familiarities to THE MARTIAN, is at @thewrap.com!

This is the stupidest g.d. thing I have read all day.

All throughout the series, if Black Jack Savage spends too much time away from his haunted castle, he’s hunted by demons called Scrunts that, in the pilot, look like the back half of a rat.

Donald Trump can defeat the scrunts by using a special laser connected to his car’s dashboard.

In another episode of THE 100 LIVES OF BLACK JACK SAVAGE, Donald Trump saves the day by heroically busting a union.

In another episode, we find out the reason the rapping Black pirate is going to Hell is because he killed white people while freeing slaves.

In the first episode of THE 100 LIVES OF BLACK JACK SAVAGE, Donald Trump and the ghost of the rapping pirate save Roma Downey from Tobin Bell by dumping toxic waste INTO the ocean.

In another, Michael Chiklis dresses up as the Black pirates to scare poor people off his land like a Scooby villain.

Every once in a while I think about how, 35 years ago, Disney produced a live-action, primetime TV series about Donald Trump buying a haunted mansion in the Caribbean and teaming up with the ghost of a rapping pirate to solve crimes using a sci-fi superboat, or else he’ll go to Hell.

Yeah, I’d like the new one better if it was the same sauce. (Although I’m hardly impressed with the bun, either.)

Larger burgers, fluffier bun, same ol’ sauce? That’d be the sweet spot. All they need is a Bigger Mac.

09.03.2026 20:10 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I did. The new sauce was a novelty but after a few bites I realized it’ll never be something I crave.

The voice and method and feeling and ambition and love of contemporary television criticism would be practically unimaginable without Matt Zoller Seitz.

Agreed. This is bullshit.

Chalamet was wrong, and people were right to point out he was wrong, but Docter did something truly damaging, espousing fundamentally homophobic ideology as his excuse (i.e. that queerness doesn’t belong in the mainstream) and that’s intensely fucked up.

Interviewer: Do you have any other advice? Obviously, β€œjust write,” because that’s the best advice. But is there anything more specific and more interesting that you’ve learned? Because you’re quite good at this by now.

Pete Docter: Write and show people. I think that’s [it]. [Thinks.] This is a weird one, but I do feel it’s important to nurture yourself and encourage yourself to be as good a person as you can. It sounds hokey but I feel like ultimately, if you get good at this, it’s almost like a musician. What you put out is going to be a reflection of who you are. So if you’re kind of a selfish, greedy person I don’t think that you’re going to produce great, giving work for other people.

I think you need to work to… That’s easy, and I don’t mean that to be a lecture because I’m a lousy person. I’m still working at being better. But I do think that art in its best form is a reflection of the artist, and so being kind to other people and nurturing a sense of trying to better yourself, I think is a key.

In contrast, here's a *very different quote* from Pete Docter, eleven years ago, in an interview conducted by me (who now regrets being so complimentary):
