I support the Massie/Khanna War Powers resolution for Congress to exercise its constitutional authority and responsibility instead of abdicating it to the executive branch.
While degrading Iran’s nuclear program and ballistic missile capabilities makes the United States, our service members, and the world safer – doing so without an imminent threat requires congressional approval, guided by the will and voices of the American people.
The Constitution is clear: Congress is responsible for authorizing offensive military action and declaring war. This President – or any President – should not launch America into sustained offensive military activity in the Middle East, or anywhere, without Congress’ authorization.
