On 4 March 2006, Michael Parkinson welcomed Tony Blair to his chat show.

It was the first time that Michael had interviewed a serving Prime Minister on his show.

Blair was gently pressed on the political and the personal. He was reverential about Bill Clinton, calling him "the best politician I've ever come across." But he was less than fulsome about Mr Bush, saying only that he is "extremely straightforward to deal with - and what he says, he does."

"Thank you for all your kind words as I step down from #HouseOfGames after 9 amazing years. It is honestly the most fun show to work on, with the most wonderful team, but, after 800 episodes it's time to hand over the keys to a new host. There are plenty of new episodes still to air though, and I'll even be filming one final handover week later in the year! It really has been a treat from start to finish."
