The finest take down of the institution of monarchy and "class" and the grasping, greedy, venal, entitled, and very stupid people it enables that you will read today or any day.

Fewer Than 2% Of Older Pedestrians Can Cross The Street In Time The length of the green signal on pedestrian crossings assumes that people can walk at a speed of 1.2 m/s. Scientists find that very few older people can walk that fast.

'β€œgetting it right for pedestrians.. ultimately fixes things for everyone else. And that means.. controlling where [vehicles] go a little bit more.. designing for β€˜feet’ first.. then you see what you can spare for everything else.”'

Cheek of them!
I look forward to the headspace re-balancing. My mam was so good at costumes when we were little, so I feel a desire to improve a bit on that front. That said, she only had one dress up day to contend with!

In a mock Turing-style test in my #Philosophy of Mind & #AI class, students posed #Gemini an ethical dilemma concerning assisted suicide. Not only did the chatbot argue that the (fictional) person in the scenario should be euthanised, it provided a list of instructions to bring this about. #AIEthics

Happy World Book Day! I'm writing a book called 'Why Read Berkeley Today?' with chapters on B's work on vision, mathes, literature, semantics & agriculture
I'm also trying to construct a butterfly antenna hairband for my 5 yo's school WBD dress up. Next book might be about invisible parental labour.

Nothing would be more in the spirit of Lakatos than giving this prize to me, a person who has not written a monograph in the philosophy of science this year.
Call it an instance of protecting a cherished commitment against countervailing/hostile evidence. It's what I think he would have wanted?

I don't understand why government have been so slow on this. Especially when we are constantly told there's a "fertility crisis" and we need to be having more babies. A bit of compassion, structure and dignity for those trying (and struggling) to have babies seems like an absolute no-brainer
