This should be the only reason a "Bike Lane Ends" sign ever gets used.

Yeah the trails seem pretty nice! Although I haven't tried them at night, they don't seem like they are generally well lit, is that true?

On* the sidewalk; Needless* to say
Oy typos πŸ˜…

Yeah that's definitely been an adjustment coming from Cambridge. Leaving my neighborhood, I usually have to make a left across 4 lanes of 35mph road (2 lanes per direction), or ride in the sidewalk for a block or two until I get to a bike underpass... Need to say I usually take the sidewalk option.

Yes, just at the beginning of February! Family/job relocation. Slowly getting settled/oriented!

I think this was southbound on 30 St and Arapahoe Ave! (Still learning my way around... πŸ˜…)

The first time I've been pleased to see a "Bike Lane Ends" sign.

Mountain biking is pretty popular around here...

Ohh, that makes way more sense πŸ˜… But what's the proper way to lock up in this case? Does it assume the "standard" frame where the top bar is not far from the handlebars (vs a step through frame)

A metal rack that extends into a pine-ybbush. There are pairs of rounded hooks that extended from the top bar of the rack, presumably to hook into the front wheel of a bike.

I went to the post office yesterday and I think this is supposed to be a bike rack and I honestly don't know how I'm supposed to use it; are those hooks for the front wheel?? (It was enough so I just locked to the vertical pole at the end of the rack...) Also points for 50% being in the bushes.

A large snow back separates the poorly plowed bike lane from the general traffic lanes (which are down to black pavement) The sidewalk is slushy but passable.

A well plowed (down to black pavement) bike lane that's fully separated from general traffic and from the sidewalk.

I meant to take the bus today but missed it and the next one wasn't for a while, so I grabbed a BlueBike (bike share) but ended up having to walk for large sections. Plowing has been a mixed bag in Boston/Cambridge, some sections impassable, others very clear!

When I listened to the transition episode where the outgoing host introduced you, I didn't pay attention to names at first but as soon as you started talking about your hatred of mayo I was like, "wait is this same person on BlueSky who hates mayo?" And it was!

But like, when the house was built, why was the toilet placed so far away from a surface that could hold the holder?!

Between cars and houses I often wonder if the designers have ever actually...used the product or lived in a house? Why is the toilet roll holder so far away from the toilet? Why is there just one dinky towel rack in a giant bathroom? Why do so many bathrooms have practically no counter space?

I thought touch screens were bad, but I'm visiting family for the holidays and they have a new car that has a touch scrollbar to control volume and that's next level terrible (plus their side mirror adjustment arrows are right next to the "fold mirror" button and I kept accidentally hitting "fold")

A little salty that a Moving Container Street permit that occupies 2 parking spaces and is valid for 3 days cost $200, but Residential Parking Permits for the equivalent space and valid for 365 days would only cost $50 ($25/spot!)

It's wild to me how early school starts in so many US cities. At least in my Canadian hometown, from elementary through high school, classes started somewhere around 8:30-9am. I used to be one of the first pick ups on the school bus, so I'd get on the bus around 7-7:15am.

This sounds like fun! Was this an open/public group, or something your network put together?

I'm actually moving to Boulder CO in early 2026 and will be working fully remotely, and am thinking about how to meet people and make connections (and not turn into a hermit who doesn't leave the house πŸ˜…)

The one weird trick to being able to bike in the winter is the city maintaining safe bike infrastructure year round as the transportation corridors they are

Ah, I ordered it specifically because my partner loves lattes and there's a coffee shop right off the bike path on his commute! Guess I'll have to see what his latte to phone ratio ends up being πŸ˜‰

Thanks @bikehfxlobby.bsky.social @shastingssimon.bsky.social for the endorsements! My partner just got a new bike, and is an avid coffee drinker, so I'm trying to help with his bike set up πŸ˜‰

@americanfietser.bsky.social were you the one recommending Handle stash bags for carrying drinks by bike? Can they reasonably handle your typical to-go coffee cup, or is it better suited for actual travel mugs with better sealed lids? (Starting to think about holiday/birthday gifts...)

Hope you have an amazing time! Also, I thought the Shibori museum in Kyoto was pretty cool, as someone interested in textile arts, and I wish I had planned better so I could take one of their hands-on workshops. I have to make my way back to Japan at some point in the future!

Jealous! I was in Tokyo & Kyoto last year and miss the food! In case you're open to suggestions, Shoraian
松籟庡 in Kyoto was probably my favorite meal that trip. Multi-course tofu-focused menu (not vegetarian if I'm remembering correctly though, in case that's important to you)
