I think it has to do with the overseas fandom not building the same tools for discovery that the JP side has. Back in the earlier days we used to get full translations of the NND chart rankings and stuff on YouTube but that ended up not happening. Idk I think it's a discovery problem for me

The crazy parts too is that it used to be when people would make covers they often times would do *something different*

They would either make a different version of the instrumental, new art/video/edit the vsq and now it's just nah no effort

It does really feel like hip hop's transition from the 90s to 00s to 2010s which is nuts because We have so many of the best sounding voice banks that we've ever had with more ease of use and clarity than ever and everyone is producing the same exact tracks

I honestly think somewhere in the 2015 era everything seemed to start homogenizing in a way I really hated. A lot of it seems to do with the commercialization of vocaloid culture. Things got less creative when people started getting really protective over their work and releasing songs with videos
