This is some real North Korean energy.
When supposedly serious pundits debate his intentions behind deranged social media posts as if they are calculated policy decisions, itβs as if physicians started interpreting a psychotic patientβs delusions as if those delusions were providing serious insights into the nature of the universe.
Or to see thousands of innocent people slaughtered. Or energy prices skyrocket. Or millionaires making money from betting on misery. Or the public and Congress getting distracted away from Trumpβs Epstein ties.
Or destabilization of the world in general.
Taking a purely libertarian approach to healthcare is like taking one to driving.
Speed limits? Blah. Drive as fast as you personally feel safe.
Think youβre ok behind the wheel w a BAL of .1%? Go for it.
Govt regulation of vehicle safety? Lol. Run your own crash tests!
Make your own choices!
Iβm curious what his response was, but not so much that Iβm clicking on a link that will direct me to Twitter.
If Hegseth is so proud of his stance that there are βno stupid rules of engagementβ in Iran, and if he truly thinks thatβs legal & moral, he should fucking own his slaughtering of 100+ schoolgirls instead of having Karoline Leavitt lie on his behalf.

If Hegseth is so proud of his βthere are no longer any rules of engagementβ stance, then he should own his slaughtering of 100+ schoolgirls.
The press must hold Trump & Hegseth accountable for this.
Itβs one thing to disagree on how much collateral damage in armed conflict is acceptable, but in this case they are refusing to acknowledge it even happened. They lie because they know the public will rightfully find this to be intolerable.
The DOJ released evidence, which the FBI deemed credible, that the President of the United States sexually and physically assaulted a 13 year old girl AND she was afraid to talk about it because Trump would kill herβand itβs somehow not the biggest scandal in American history?
Lucky it wasnβt Kansas City!

To everyoneβs credit, I saw literally not one person at the airport throwing a tantrum, even though many were missing their flights because of the delay.
Some travel inconvenience is a small price for Democratic Senators to stand up against fascism.

Airport workers told us that the local TSA agents had a βsickoutβ since they are no longer getting paychecks. Same in Houston.
Apparently, Republicans think itβs more important for ICE to be able to terrorize immigrants & trample our Constitutional rights than it is to have a functioning TSA.

Iβm at the New Orleans airport right now, where I stood through the longest TSA line Iβve ever seen. It extended back across the entire bag check area, out the door into the parking garage, looped around outside, and came back inside again.

Better to get current Trump supporters fired up over something rather than foolishly waiting forever for them to start caring about immigrants and war atrocities.
Hopefully the next Speaker will move it to somewhere more visible.
Agree on the lower profile replacement.
Prasad and Makary are buddies IRL. I think that will largely trump any disagreements he has with the agency.
But I can also easily imagine bitterness and embarrassment over being forced out twice could trump his friendship.
As a Californian and as an American, I support a World Cup boycott.
As much Schadenfreude this generates, we may want to hold our applause until we see who replaces him. It can always get worseβ¦
And just a week ago, everyone was touting Anthropic as the ethical choice over Open AI.
Why disappointing?
It argues in favor of the assertion Iβve made for years that IM residents spend far too much effort micromanaging relatively modest, asymptomatic hyponatremia.
That feels like a win to me. π
Thats why the IOC should relocate rather than countries organizing a boycott.
Depending on how the World Cup goes and what disasters the US unleashes on the world over the next 2 years, I can imagine there being a boycott in 2028, and a preemptive relocation would prevent that.
The world certainly canβt rebuke the US militarily.
And may be loathe to consider formal economic sanctions or a move of the UN (though both of those actions would be justified).
But relocating the 2028 Olympics would be a serious & non-ignorable message: FAFO can apply to entire nations.
2/2
When much of the world - including the US - boycotted the 1980 Olympics in the USSR over their war in Afghanistan, there was only 6 months to organize it.
The world has >2 years before the LA Olympics in 2028.
Thatβs enough time to relocate them elsewhere.

Hereβs a crazy idea: maybe the people or Iran should choose the leaders of Iranβ¦instead of several βacceptableβ options being dictated to them by an imbecile who couldnβt find the country on a map if blocking the Epstein files depended on it.
If I experienced the logical amount of terror to everything thatβs warranted it in the last 16 months, Iβd become so paralyzed Iβd never leave my bed in the morning.
At some point, we still need to function and feeling literal terror around every corner, while understandable will lead to inaction.
This is low key terrifying. And also exactly what we should expect when Congress confirmed a nutty, wholly unqualified, fringe Christofascist as our Secretary of Defense.
In an ideal world, any commander who expressed such views would be immediately relieved.

Scouting America (i.e. the Boy Scouts) announced that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth intimidated them into removing their DEI initiatives, and replacing a "Citizenship in Society" merit badge with a new "military service" badge.
Feeling good about this letter I wrote to the NYT 26 yrs ago.
Lol. I ranted for an hour about Means' inability to interpret the medical literature, her misrepresentation of her "origin story", and why she will be harmful as surgeon general: youtu.be/0PjFRo5o9XM
We are on the same page about that!
Sure, but we would never say that an APP doesnβt βpractice medicineβ. It would disrespect their profession.
Also, Means (reportedly) did briefly practice medicine independently after she left residency, albeit in the concierge wellness/longevity space.
Strong Medicine has a new video today on autoimmune encephalitis.
