The two then talked about trucks, and their shared distaste of them. Edward and Evandor dropped their trucks in the sidings and high-tailed it for home. The sun was setting as they crossed Vicarstown's station viaduct. Edward concluded that Mr Hatt was likely going to seal the S&M's tunnel through the hillside. He clarified for Evandor that Henry would almost certainly be removed one way or another first. He wouldn't just leave an engine bricked away inside a tunnel ... right?
The two fell into a surprisingly comfortable silence as they arrived, even after a pejorative comment thrown by Edward's driver, which Edward himself didn't so much as respond to.

Edward and Evandor picked up their load of bricks and headed back to the tunnel where the White Elephant and the Director still held their standoff. Edward grew tense as they reached the tunnel, even with Evandor there to comfort him.
When they emerged, they found a most bizarre sight - the passing loop had been pushed forward, just past the tunnel entrance, and a siding had been put up in front of the engine, who's coaches had been taken away.
Mr Topham Hatt instructed the two to leave the trucks of bricks where they were and to head off, but Evandor questioned the setup before them. He was given a very blunt and uninformative answer, but the fear in Edward's eyes kept him from pressing.
