I mean, the ARC shouldnβt necessarily be in charge of creating jobs for academics (they were clear about this), but the government should be funding universities better so they can give people more stable contracts. The only new continuing contracts we see now are all education focussed roles.
Iβve heard some people say that reviews under the ARC sociology code often have a tough time getting funded- mainly because reviewers are super critical. Any truth to this? #researchsky #academicsky @binarythis.bsky.social

I sat through on so many interview panels and the ideas of the applicants were BRILLIANT. Some had to develop a whole subject from scratch and present it. This is at least a weeks worth of unpaid labour.
