@plosbiology.org is formalizing its long‑standing practice of asking authors to share research code, introducing a mandatory #code‑sharing policy and clarifying what is meant by code sharing.

97% of the papers archived the data but only 35% archived the code.

Most people are writing code but not sharing it. Time to bring up this again: scispace.com/pdf/publish-... (and if the code isn't good enough yet, maybe it's too early to publish the paper)

Barbie driving down the road singing, text reads "downloading data for reuse. bottom panel: barbie and Ken screaming with text reading "there's no README"

It's important for the public to be able to reuse #RescuedData, but the context a README or similar documentation provides is necessary for understanding.

Be like Barbie. Help yourself have a great day every day, and on this #MemeMonday, remember to document your data.

Does it make sense to preregister simulation studies?
This question has sparked a lot of debate.

▶️We* work through the why, when, and how
▶️We discuss different phases of methodological research to clarify where preregistration might (or might not) add value
