In short, we find largely null effects of partisan embarrassment on a host of dependent variables related to polarization and partisanship.
These are important and relevant null effects that suggest how rare it is for partisans to punish their own party.
Can embarrassment of one's party dampen partisanship and polarization? One would think.
In a forthcoming paper at @poqjournal.bsky.social, Taylor Carlson, @stevenwwebster.bsky.social, and I examine what we call "partisan embarrassment," including looking at the ramifications of these feelings...
Around 11 years ago I had this wild dream to get my PhD and get a job in academia and maybe even get tenure?! It was wild.
