A photo of a tasmanian devil sitting in a grassy area, mid-yawn. Its entire head appears to be made of a giant pink mouth and lots of big teeth.

There's something fascinating about the potential of combining espionage and faeries. The themes of entering a hidden, parallel world, the strange rules, customs, and language, the way these worlds transform the people who enter them, becoming a changeling, the danger of it all
Posted for “girl on the run: the hunt for America’s most wanted woman”
I think the wildest part of this documentary is the cops saying over and over again “she had supernatural powers of manipulation, she had a mysterious ability to make people to do things for her” and then her actual escape strategy was “she made friends by being nice to them and they helped her”
Today, US & Israeli forces bombed the Gandhi Children’s Hospital in Iran’s capital of Tehran.
Nurses supposedly risked their lives carrying newborns to safety from the rubble.
I’m having trouble finding more reporting about this, but here is at least a blurb from Reuters:
Rates of death and disability from any virus are irrelevant if they are preventable.
Any debate about percentages that does not first accept the need to prevent are just debates about how many people to allow to die and suffer so existing societal norms can remain mostly undisturbed.
Andor's Cassian is the cypher. Other than Bix and Brasso, he doesn't fucking care about fighting the Empire, he wants to run away all the time. And whenever he does say anything political, it's never an original thought, he's always parroting a white man.
Rogue One by comparison has only 2 1/2 hours but does a lot with such little time. Jyn is cynical, but principled wants someone/something to believe in. Cassian is a man who absolutely believes that what he's doing is right, therefore, he must be as ruthless as the Imperials and it's eating his soul
The only reason Andor looks better than Rogue One is because it's longer and the acting was good despite the script really giving the characters nothing because it's so focused on the plot.
No. Gilroy turned Cassian into a fuckboy version of Jason Bourne. He stripped Cassian of a very interesting background with the Separatists before joining the mostly Republican lead Rebel Alliance. He has no real thoughts or opinions of his own. And that's just one thing that pissed me off.
Oh hey I just realized a side effect of attacking Iran is raising oil prices for all of Trump's allies including Russia, potentially giving them new finances to continue the war with Ukraine.
I know this feels pointless but everyone has to call their congressional reps and say they oppose war with Iran and they oppose Trump illegally starting one without congressional approval — both
5 Calls can help you make the call:

Things continue to not be skibidi in Ohio or New York in our latest episode, but at least we've got @lindsaym476.bsky.social as a guest to help us form a trio on the episode "Trio"! We are very invested in stealing Barbara's skin and getting Tina's boobs noticed, so take a listen!
Highly recommend.
The jaw dropper moment for me was when a speaker talked about how Canada is seen as a fresh new market of customers for privatized healthcare because so many Americans can’t afford it anymore.
In other words, parasites looking for their next host.
Anyway, I spent the better part of two weeks in a basement scanning documents. In case you've been wondering.
And just because I can, Black Sails. Because it was doing a lot of stuff that a certain really popular scifi show did, just earlier, in a historical setting, and is also a much better prequel to its source material, too.
Just saying
Con't
- X Company
- Notorious, 1946 Alfred Hitchcock
- The Quiet American
- The Third Man
- Berlin Station
- Callan
- The Sandbaggers
- The Americans
- The Hour
If you want more grounded spy thrillers like a certain Disney show:
- John le Carré's works, with recs for The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, A Perfect Spy, The Night Manager, and A Small Town in Germany
- Alan Furst's books, as they're all set during WWII
Con't
- Several entries in the Gundam franchise, especially 0080: War in the Pocket and The Origin
- Fullmetal Alchemist (both manga and Brotherhood)
- Metal Gear series
- Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade
- Akira (both manga and anime)
- Ursula K. Le Guin's works in general
For no particular reason, I came up with a list of media that might scratch a certain scifi espionage itch. I've broken it into a couple categories:
Science Fiction
- The Prisoner, 1967-68
- Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
- Babylon 5
- Blake 7
- Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

Happy Lunar New Year!

We're at the opera tonight! Lindsay really thinks we can bring TOSCA to the big screen, and Tanner...just learned what an opera is. But all we need to do to make it work is some subtle tweaks, like changing major chunks of the score and libretto. Don't worry about it! Just listen! :3
