Trying to get my head round how this could make it to print. Many warning signs for all of us
Democrats dont wanna face the fact that until this genocide stops, youโre gonna KEEP losing. The young ones coming up donโt give a FUCK if it all burns down. Theyโre saddled in debt, unemployed, and hate you old motherfuckers. You have no integrity and youโre killing the planet. They DONT care.
The rise of โauthoritarianismโ is also a reinvigoration of a White Supremacist International that shares methods, strategy, ideology, and a commitment to what Du Bois called, โownership of the earth forever and ever, Amen!โ

He explains how the GOP tax bill will add new administrative burdens - "precertification" - to EITC recipients so to limit access. ๐งต

This is an enormous story. Thankful that ProPublica has pursued it so well, especially considering the way other media have snoozed. (While embracing Afrikaners as genocide victims, no less.) www.propublica.org/article/trum...
If I see another institution-flagellating higher ed leader say that the current existential threats to the enterprise are own fault, I am going to go on a Bluesky rant. Oh wait, here is. โ ๏ธ
The problem is a constant tug between expanded access and opportunity for new people, new voices, and those in power who find that threatening and then amplify questions about who higher ed is for and what it does precisely to justify defunding and constraining access.

Good morning New York. While you were sleeping, this was the most-read story www.ft.com/content/9019...
NYU strongly denounces the choice by a student at the Gallatin Schoolโs graduation todayโone of over 20 school graduation ceremonies across our campusโto misuse his role as student speaker to express his personal and one-sided political views. โHe lied about the speech he was going to deliver and violated the commitment he made to comply with our rules. The University is withholding his diploma while we pursue disciplinary actions. โNYU is deeply sorry that the audience was subjected to these remarks and that this moment was stolen by someone who abused a privilege that was conferred upon him.โ
A principled student said in a grad speech that the โonly appropriate thing to say in this momentโ is to acknowledge the โatrocitiesโ currently being committed in Palestine.
In response, NYU is withholding their diploma + apologizing to the community for the trauma the audience was โsubjected to.โ

One of the happiest updates Iโve written since I started following this story. 12 students back in status and maybe more to come. Across the country, students are saying their SEVIS is back.

What they are taking from DOGE is a) the idea of state surveillance, b) targeting research and c) increasing red tape.
I just think that Yale firing Helyeh Doutaghi for once sitting on a panel with a member of Sumud & turning around to invite fucking Ben Gvir is so telling of the rot at the core of our institutions which have so dehumanized Palestinians that they are literally platforming butches of humans.
I thought he was unbearable and then he went through his "introspection" stage - somehow made himself more unbearable.
New โ After hundreds of Yale students protested in advance of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir visiting campus, Yale has now stripped the school's Students for Justice in Palestine Chapter (Yalies4Palestine) of its status as an official student group
Itโs not about whether or not the Civil Rights Act is literally gone. The point is that heโs not going to enforce it. He will bring in a new wave of white authoritarianism, with a Congress that will settle for tweeting โThatโs illegal!โ While doing little to nothing.
They are segregationist and this will be open season for discrimination.
โthe Attorney General shall initiate appropriate action to repeal or amend the implementing regulations for Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for all agencies to the extent they contemplate disparate-impact liabilityโ
Since Trump returned to the White House, the number of agreements for local law enforcement to work with ICE has tripled. Half of those agreements are from Florida.
this is basically just a big plan to impoverish the united states
"In an earlier post, she wrote: "As for the inevitable death, if I die, I want a loud death, I don't want me in a breaking news story, nor in a number with a group, I want a death that is heard by the world, a trace that lasts forever, and immortal images that neither time nor place can bury."

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.
brb, I just want to share this with all those Indian aunties and uncles who voted for his man
This isnโt โbuying Americanโ. This is specifically โbuying Trumpโ. My brain is melting at the abject corruptness of everything.
This is too too horrific. "Gaza is not just a warzone, itโs a graveyard of promises broken and aid denied."
Sanaa is a brilliant human & writer. She is spending all her time and energy yelling everywhere she can about her beloved family. Please show her and others on here they are not alone.
I talked with @ejeris.bsky.social about fascism, coalition building, and the compassion and shared knowledge we need to create safety and justice in these times. Listen wherever you get your podcasts, or access a transcript + audio here:
โWeโre not just contending with right-wing movements. Weโre talking about movements that have reached one of their goals, which is to take over the government. And not just taking over local governments or governments in certain states, but also the federal government. And what this means is that theyโre starting to consolidate or theyโre moving to increasingly consolidate power to eliminate and remove and imprison and cause violence against their opposition, which is a lot of us.โ - Ejeris Dixon
In this episode, we made a real effort to reckon with the severity of our situation (which is not captured with phrases like "constitutional crisis") and discuss what moves & adjustments we need to make in response to this crisis. I'm so grateful for @ejeris.bsky.social. truthout.org/audio/fascis...
