The CDC “has reported more than 1,100 measles cases in 2026 so far on top of more than 2,200 last year, when three people died and hundreds were hospitalized. The US hasn’t seen such a high number of cases in the past 35 years.”

Early pregnancy care declines despite Trump’s pro-birth agenda - Salon.com As the Trump admin urges folks to have more kids, new data shows early pregnancy care moving in the wrong direction

More than 5.6 million American women live in counties with no or limited access to maternity care. The rise in maternity deserts is most likely a factor in the decline of early prenatal care. Restrictive abortion bans don't help either.

Cervical cancer rates higher in states with low HPV vaccination rates

New study: "States with high vaccination rates have seen the biggest drop in cervical cancer, while states with low vaccination rates have had little to no progress"

State-level progress in reducing cervical cancer incidence among US young women between the pre- and post-human papillomavirus vaccination eras AbstractBackground. Despite well-documented national declines in cervical cancer incidence among young women following human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine i

Nothing on measles vaccination, despite there being a major measles outbreak across the country.

Nothing on abortion.

Nothing on health from a scientific research standpoint.

And nothing on the massive rural health transformation grants given to states.

I am never going to get over the fact thar so many Americans died that corpses stacked up in nursing homes and hospital morgues, that refrigerator trucks had to be brought in for the overflow, and that the big takeaway from Important Pundits is there should have been *less* mitigation.

We lost a giant in public health today.

Dr. William H. Foege helped eradicate #smallpox - the only human disease ever eliminated—through science, surveillance, and vaccines.

His legacy is the antidote to today’s antiscience, anti-vaccine rhetoric.

The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization.

This is a shameful move that puts both Americans and people all over the world at greater risk from disease outbreaks, which require international collaboration to contain.
