Good riddance

Trump is about to install a doc as Surgeon General [the nation's doctor] who is not even licensed to practice and built her wealth selling unscientific wellness treatments. I served as Senior Advisor to the SG in 2021, and this is a bad pick. People are gonna get hurt.
Tom Kean Jr.βs greatest hits:
β Stayed silent
β Didnβt stand up
β Didnβt fight back
When Trump hurt New Jersey, our Congressman did nothing. We need a representative who will actually fight β and I will.
Excited to announce I was endorsed by Freethought Equality PAC! They're leaders in creating a government responsive to the needs of the people, defending our freedoms, and protecting against right-wing religious extremism. I look forward to working with them in Congress to deliver for NJ families.
Together, we can channel our energy into something productive: flipping this seat. We have an incredible opportunity here in NJ-07 to have an outsized impact on the future of the country.

I had no idea that Donald Appleyardβs work was spurred by his son getting near-fatally hit by a driver at the age of 3, only for his own life to be cut short by a speeding drunk driver at 54, his son 17.
He was an incredible, brilliant, caring, and poetic man, deserving of the honor we give him. β₯οΈ
One of my favorite takeaways was the testimony from a child in a community where walking and biking are possible:
βI like my neighborhood because I have lots of friends, because I can play there whenever I want. I like everything in my neighborhood, and I also dislike nothing in my neighborhood.β
Finally got around to listening to @thewaroncars.bsky.socialβs episode with Dr. Appleyard.
As a student of urban planning and design, the work of his father is fresh in my mind. It was wonderful to hear just some of Bruceβs insights into the livable streets movement and the promise of the street.
ICYMI: watch my opening remarks from this weekβs candidate forum in Mendham.
Horrifying. We need a representative in NJ-7 who will stand up to Trump and ICE, rather than silently capitulate at their constituentsβ expense like Tom Kean Jr.
New Jersey has the second-largest percentage of foreign-born residents in the country.
And NJ lawmakers passed 3 bills that will fundamentally change immigration enforcement in our state.
Peaceful protest is not weak. It is powerful. There is power in peace, and Flemington understands this. When enough people are loud enough for long enough, things change. We can win this fight.
Which amendment in the Bill of Rights is about driving?

Oli @CARNΓN X.com The other night I was driving in pouring rain, fully dark, and the car randomly lost GPS. No location. No navigation. Which also meant no FSD. I tried two software resets while driving just to get GPS back. Nothing worked. So there I was, manually driving in terrible conditions, unsure of positioning, no assistance, no guidance. And it genuinely felt unsafe. For me and for the people in the car. Then it hit me. This feeling - the stress, the uncertainty, the margin for error - this is how most drivers feel every single day. No FSD. No constant awareness. No backup. We've normalised danger so much that we only notice it when the safety net disappears.
Chris Robovan @chrisrobovan β’ 1d So true. I couldn't imagine trying to figure things out myself anymore I feel it every time I have to take over to take a separate entrance or find an area different from the exact pin at a destination. 12.6.4 does 98% of my driving but that last 2% is tough I couldn't imagine also being without GPS 55 L7 14 118 Δ±hΔ±l 96K θ΄ Oli g @CARNΓNβ’ 1d It was a very tough situation β’ 21 4 β’ .. ill 74K ε ε±±
tesla owners admitting without shame they donβt know how to drive anymore
These massive blunt-nosed bastard trucks need to be taxed out of existence. They're a consistent threat to the safety of pedestrians and cyclists (especially children).
People cannot stand Al being forced into every aspect of their lives. The advertisement is unattractive and, beyond that, portrays a terrible, hostile message.
It leaves nothing to be proud of, especially as not one person played any part in creating it outside of writing prompts.
This Al-generated advertisement about how terrible the holidays are is so sloppish and miserable that McDonald's had it pulled in a day.
Large companies have forgotten even the most simple purpose of commercials: to connect with and appeal to a potential audience.
In my opinion, that βin the momentβ aspect builds a better sense of environment and identity than listening to music through headphones or playing music over loudspeakers. For some, it can also help with focus.
Something Iβve been getting into lately is including pianos in public spacesβespecially transit stations and on college campuses.
Itβs a special feeling to realize that someone is creating a unique, honestly-attempted sound that only those around will ever get to hear.
The best bet for business is walkable, bikable neighborhoods with strong public transit: local governments ought to clearly demonstrate that their goals prioritize the needs of the community and local stores, not those of the automotive industry.
This is an excellent point, and one that applies to all commercial areas. Car dependence and acres of parking lots not only hurt the environment and are expensive and unhealthy for consumers, but they inhibit businesses of every size.
Weβve knocked. Weβve called. Weβve rallied. Now itβs time to vote. Big day tomorrowβletβs go, New Jersey! Wishing the best of luck to all these incredible leaders.
In car-dependent communities like my own, careless driving on Halloween can pose massive risk to families trick-or-treating.
If you need not drive today, then DO NOT. If you do, use utmost patience and care and set aside some extra time for your commute: drive slow. Keep our streets safe. π
Disgusting and treasonous. ICE is a stain on our country and the least extreme view is to say that it ought to be abolished and every one of its agents put on trial.
Raritan Township has become the third municipality in New Jersey to institute a stormwater utility, aka 'a rain tax'. The goal is to raise funds to improve infrastructure and mitigate flood damage from storms. www.nj.com/hunterdon/20...
Communities like mine end up relying on Facebook as a primary tool of communication.
How truly sickening it is, that so many children and older folks will be unknowingly exposed to these sorts of dangers because of companies like Meta and their evil, backhanded bullshit.
We all deserve better.
