Democratic leaders failed to rise to the occasion and condemn the police brutality on display against protestors expressing their first amendment rights. It more than likely cost them the election. Stop crying about it and learn to win an election.

Respectfully, eat shit. Those kids were expelled, arrested, and targeted relentlessly by their school administrations with the specific goal of preventing further protest. Eighteen year old kids were held down and maced by campus security, hit point blank with tear gas canisters by riot cops.
The abuse inflicted on Palestinian detainees at Sde Teiman prison β including the murder of a Palestinian doctor β was inhumane. This one case, brought because the abuse was *caught on camera*, was a small sign that rule of law in Israel still worked.
The Israeli government has dropped the case.
They still haven't found Nancy Guthrie and they didn't prevent the synagogue attack today
"'Contrarian' is just how boring people excuse being racist" is so good I'm copying it down in my notebook.
How in the world other #FIFA member countries ok with this? The world of football being ok with this behavior would be a failure of humanity at global scale. In a just world stars from the biggest clubs of world football would start speaking out and that'd include #MUFC.
Remembering the USMNT win v Iran in 2022. Several Iranian players were devastated, weeping on the pitch. More than one of our guys sat there and held them while they cried. It went beyond graciousness in victory; it was pure human empathy. That's how the beautiful game is supposed to be, YET NOW
We cannot stop mass deportations without seriously reckoning with the American obsession with arrests and prosecutions.

"Paramedics reported that [the cop] declined treatment in the ambulance.
"βI am fine, I just needed to get out of here,β she said, according to the report."
Feels to me like whoever runs on "I am going to put into prison every single person currently in power in government, business, or law enforcement" has a decent chance at 500 electoral votes.
Could America please be known for something else?
βIt is the stuff of tyrannical dictators to fabricate such propaganda for the sake of saving face and discrediting oneβs enemies. This is not the behavior of a leader of the free world.β
"As a Minnesotan - don't call people who are protecting neighbors "activists" - they're people protecting neighbors and relatives and that's it.
"We saw the same verbiage here too - nobody knows quite what to call ordinary people stepping up to the moment."

Wonderful (and spoiler-free). Where has this annual list been all my life?? π
The drum that really need to get beaten is that the single biggest blocking point for Iran breaking out was that the supreme leader was sincerely religiously opposed to nuclear weapons, which is why we, very smartly (/s) blew him up

A page from Issue 8 of BLACK CAT by G Willow Wilson and Gleb Melkinov. Black Cat is being held upside down by a rock monster. She thinks "Bad days have a way of sneaking up on you. You think you're just going to make a quick side trip into the negative zone to help a friend steal a cringy audition tape from a maximum security storage facility, bu. you end uo in the clutches of some rock monster with all the blood rushing to your head, facing almost certain death."
Out today! We all like to think we'd be there for our friends in their time of need. But would we break into a maximum security self-storage facility in the Negative Zone for them? Felicia would. Felicia has. It's going about as well as you'd expect.
Drone strikes in Haiti.
Drone strikes. In Haiti.
By private contractors.
Theyβre killing Haitians for private profit & the world barely pays attention.
The story of Haiti is the story America likes to tell about itself. Except there, itβs true. And the west has never stopped punishing Haiti for it

real estate investment trusts, or reits, have been crucial to the expansion of u.s. private prisons and immigration jails.
but what actually is a reit? and how can you make sure your retirement savings aren't invested in one that owns prisons?
check out this guide from @jamieludwig.bsky.social:

"We will be horrified, *but we cannot be surprised,* if there is a terrorist attack on the US. If we choose to be surprised, we co-create a moment that [Twitler] will exploit to undo what remains of our democracy."
Professors do not indoctrinate students in class but teach them how to think critically and openly.
In the wake of SB 37, University of Houston has introduced syllabi "checklists" and "certifications" to prevent so-called indoctrination in the classroom. This clearly threatens academic freedom.
