Caught In A Bat-Romance: Gothic Love in Batman #227 By Lillian Hochwender We all have our own personal Batman: for some, it’s the mascara-smeared Robert Pattinson; for others, it’s Frank Miller’s blocky brute. But over the decades, the specifics of …

Batman was inspired by pulp heroes, but also by gothic romance - today we take a look at one of The Dark Knight's most fantastical adventures! shelfdust.com/2026/03/11/c...

Completely disagree, obviously. Michael Mann is one of the best American directors ever and Thief is a classic. But I do love the way Kael wrote this. She definitely gets the movie, and its funny to read her critical description when those are all the best things about the movie

From Flock to ICE, Here’s a Breakdown of How You’re Being Watched To better understand what exactly we’re looking at in this dystopian surveillance hellscape, 404 Media’s Jason Koebler and Joseph Cox joined Reddit's r/technology for an Ask Me Anything session.

From Flock's nationwide surveillance to ICE tools, we are being watched. Is there anyway to go back now?

"Police love telling each other about the new capabilities and tools that they've acquired, so this tech can spread from city to city very quickly."

A 404 Media guide to surveillance in 2026:

Gundam treats its leads like a lost generation, Evangelion treats them like real kids

Shinji is also an interesting contrast to Gundam protags like Amuro. For Amuro, the trauma of being a child soldier has to do primarily with death, war, and political responsibility for the future. But for Shinji, that trauma is an inward foreclosure to grew and learning how to be yourself

There is also a powerful coupling of coming of age and body dysphoria in a way that's extremely unique for mecha anime, and I'm very much here for it. Wish I saw this when I was much younger. But maybe I wouldn't have appreciated it as much

Its a very pretty show, in a way that most anime never allow themselves to be. There's no AoT exaggeration or over stimulation. It let's the episodes be quiet and thoughtful in between the action

I'm only 5 episodes in but one of the best animes I've ever seen in terms of episode by episode cliffhangers, allowing slow moments to linger, creating unique compositions that the episodes will simply hold on. Its so cinematic

Out Dark is incredible, one of my favorites by McCarthy, but it always surprises me how much he evolves from Orchard Keeper to Outer Dark, from discount Faulkner to the core of his identity almost fully formed

a tan long-haired dachshund with incredibly floofy ears sits with his front paws on a window sill and his nose pressed up against the window. he's accompanied by his stuffed squirrel friend. their reflections stares back at them. Stevie the dachshund does not see the irony in watching for squirrels with his squirrel friend. he's too busy being locked in on the happenings outside his window.

This is Stevie. He's on squirrel watch. His stuffed friend is also a squirrel, but he's one of the good ones. 14/10 (IG: longdogstevie)

Comics Shop Tok Comics retailers are stepping out from behind the counter and in front of the camera as business booms

I wrote a piece for @publisherswkly.bsky.social about how comics retailers have turned into influencers and YouTubers to promote comics, their shops and community
