Sometimes, I feel like I was built a little too fragile for this world. Maybe lately especially.

Yeah, that's what I assumed. It's okay by me.
Soulseek is now packed with thousands of songs with Homer Simpson vocals added. Pranks might be what saves our sanity in this time period.
I feel like "a tax on the bridge and tunnel people" is probably an easy sell in NYC.
Heβs looking more and more like Saturn in Goyaβs painting.

Book #25 for 2026: short stories by a crafter of weird stories, including his best-known, The Night of Lead, about a man in a strange city after dark who encounters himself as a fifteen-year-old.
Book #24: Strange tales from a NY writer. A little high concept, a little sci-fi, not always my taste.
Surely, NYC can find a way to give these folks housing until they get on their feet, if they want to come here.
I'm having a hard time distinguishing between Reaganism and Trumpism but hear it's a matter of distinct ideologies. (I'm not convinced.)
I feel like David Morrell would have been pretty justified in punching Sylvester Stallone.
People forget that Rambo was considered appropriate for a children's Saturday morning cartoon at that time.
There is a persistent myth in America that the country would have bombed enough to win every war if it wasn't for the liberals "tying our hands." Sort of the Dirty Harry theory. It was particularly acute during the hyper-militaristic 1980s- Rambo asking, "Do we get to win this time?" etc.
I actually discovered her films in the most Mme Varda way imaginable- I was looking at the posters in her window in the Rue Daguerre and she came up and asked me, in French, "Have you discovered something today?" and then we talked for a while.
It's a little tricky to navigate- they have a website and I've been picking through for our local favorites, but I think you have to click through to those theaters. My favorite, just for aesthetics, is probably the Village East. It's a gorgeous cinema.
And, if you're going to an art house for NYC Art House Cinema Week, you should check out this Agnès Varda retrospective. She was one of the best to ever do it.
There is zero percent chance he came up with that line.
The nice thing with Hamilton, which was more of a small town, was you could keep up with everything artsy and interesting and not go broke. When I moved here, Jenni had to tell me "You can't do everything cool in NYC, but that's okay."
I find, if you live in NYC, you kind of have to pick one thing to focus on at the expense of others. I've been collecting books, rather than records, and only going to see the occasional movie. We have friends, though, who see every movie in the theaters, and it's an embarrassment of riches.
This is something that is probably fairly easy to do and a great idea to boot.
This is a damn good movie, and if you havenβt seen it, you should treat yourself. Itβs full of love. It somehow manages to wear its influences on its sleeve, without being pastiche, and is also very unique. It is also GORGEOUSLY shot in black and white. A truly unique, personal, moving and fun film

And dismissing it all as NIMBYism is just loaded with disdain for poor people, non-white people, anyone not in your reading club.
Why do we get these weekly news updates on how Ace Manjuice feels about the world??
Honeatly, what makes the Bank of Montreal look at Trump and decide they need to meddle in US elections to help him?
Huh. Not even sure how to conceptualize this. Isn't this Canadian companies interfering in US elections in a way that also empowers a trade war against Canada?
I realize this is one of those "be the change" things...
I guess my issue is we have a site full of lefties, liberals, and progressives, so I wish my feed was more about how we're going to make this a better world, one block at a time, and less the daily atrocity exhibition that the fascists want us to obsess on anyway.
Oh yeah, I have not been to Truth Social, but I have heard the elders describe its horrors
My feed at the moment is very demoralizing for me and I'm sure that was not the intention of the posters, at least not the ones I know.
