Book cover of The Ice Beneath Me by Patti Buff. It shows a frozen lake with snow and footprints on it with a shadow of a pair of legs.
We’re halfway through the #LibraroPrize reading period!
Huge thanks to everyone who has already read and championed The Ice Beneath Me. Every bit of support helps push the story toward the shortlist.
If you’ve been meaning to check it out, there’s still time.

Finished today. What a ride!
Tagging the one and only @lookhappy.bsky.social here, because silly me forgot in the original post!

I am angry to a degree that I can't express in words about how Trump is messily dismantling our hard-won global progress on nuclear non-proliferation.
Subject: Congratulations to Victoria and Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association Date: Fri, 27 Feb 2026 16:02:52 -o500 From: Chris Meade <c.meade@entrereneurcohort.com> To: [redacted] Victoria, Aaron and I are right now going over our game plan for 2026 and I wanted to connect with you personally because I genuinely believe you'd be a strong fit inside The Founders Club, considering what you're doing at Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association. Looks like you guys are killing it by supporting science fiction and fantasy writers. Almost all of our members join us via referrals and our Instagram, but my co-founder and I do like to personally reach out to people we believe are part of the 6% we accept into the club. Our community is an tight-knit circle of entrepreneurs making waves in their industries who support each other, celebrate wins, and tackle real problems together. It’s a seriously high-caliber club with all founders doing $1M to 10-figures in yearly revenue. If part of your focus for 2026 is upgrading your circle and building relationships that actually move the needle, this might be exactly what you’re looking for. Would you be interested in a quick 15-minute chat about the club? Chris Meade - Co-Founder P.S. If the Founders Club doesn’t sound like it’d be a good fit, just let me know and I’ll make sure not to follow up on this.
This is going around again--seems like a somewhat more deluxe successor to the Who's Who scams of yesteryear. What they don't want to tell you: it costs $791/mo to join www.foundersclubofficial.com/about-us (based on the images on the site, I suggested they change their name to White Founders Club)
My story, The Corydalis Kiss, has just been published over at Zoetic Press's 4LPH4NUM3R1C podcast.
It's part of Episode 14 - Misfit Magic.
Great stories! Mine at 24:25 minutes marker. Free to listen (and read.)

Adolf Hitler's rise to power was marked by early warning signs that went ignored. Politicians dismissed the alarm bells and institutions believed the system would restrain what was coming. History shows clearly just how wrong those assumptions were.
The story I wrote for @gavagai.com's 1000-character prompt last week has made first place, voted for by my fellow readers and writers there. So pleased! The prompt word was <hate>

An ICE agent shot and killed 23-year-old U.S. citizen Ruben Ray Martinez in Texas almost an entire year ago and hid the shooting from the public.
It’s only now coming to light, 11 months later, due to Freedom of Information Act requests.
What else is the regime hiding from us?
His love comes with strings attached.

Quoting @giselawehrl.bsky.social here:
"It’s the most extreme version [of the Sunken Cost Fallacy]. Sacrifice a child to an ideology is the ultimate cost but instead of admitting that you did something wrong you keep to this decision and invest more in it."
I can't with these people. I just can't.
I don’t think they are scared. I think they are corrupted. 🤷🏼♀️
My corporate horror short story "Sunday Scaries" has been published in Issue 2 of The Bleeding Margin!
Really excited to be included in this fantastic issue. The magazine can be purchased here www.capitalhorror.com/collections/...

OMG guys, today I learned that the English language has the word shtum. Which is basically a phonetic equivalent to the German word stumm - which has the same meaning - which isn't that surprising since both words' etymology apparently goes back to Yiddish.
I love this.

made it about 70% through last night, then had to stop. I might get to the point where I need to read this in daylight now - hahaha
