The focus on the servant class & open arrogance of the Count not being a match for the wit of Susanna and the countess were ways in which this varied from the established beliefs of the time.

There was definitely a gender bending to the character of Cherubino that was riffed in the opera several times.

This queerness in full view was not something seen in mainstream entertainment in the 18th Century & was audacious Mozart being audacious.

Having that said, for the late 1700's it was pretty revolutionary.

I especially appreciate #Cherubino, a character playing a 'trouser role.' This means it is written to be played by a femme presenting character coming off as masc.

The minor aspects this chart feels akin to the clues that Mozart would drop in the script to who would deceive who & how they would become unravelled
