Ohio bill allowing the Ten Commandments to be displayed in classrooms is advancing, but with a key question unanswered Senate Bill 34 would allow Ohio school boards to choose from a list of “founding documents” to display in classrooms — this includes the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Northwest Ordinance and, most contentiously, the Ten Commandments.

Public schools are not Sunday schools, and religious freedom thrives best when the government stays out of it.
