Cropped screenshot of FreeDV running on desktop with strong local signal. below is FreeDV Reporter showing active stations.
The new AI assisted mode in #FreeDV, #RADEV1, is building a following in SE Aust. VK3TPM runs a net on #40m and this morning 8 stations participated. I used my #QMX (5W) to make my first ever contacts on FreeDV and worked local stations as well as hearing a VK5 and VK7. #amateurradio #digitalvoice
On Mon 2nd I took my #QMX to three nearby #SOTA summits, Mt Cobaw, Camels Hump and Mt Gisborne and operated #CW and #SSB with good reports. The #CME affected 20m but 40m worked great and I got lots of contacts. The QMX is an amazing little #radio for performance, versatility and cost! #Hamradio
QMX portable radio on backpack with morse paddle, earphones, battery and antenna connected. Clipboard on operator's knee with log book and CW paddle.
Well done Nick, I took my #QMX to three nearby #SOTA summits last Monday and operated #CW and #SSB with good reports. The CME affected 20m but 40m worked great and I got lots of contacts. The QMX is an amazing little radio and has inspired me to lighten the rest of my portable station! #Hamradio

...2/ Reports on my audio were good. At 0451UTC I made a contact with F5PYI, Larry! It was hard to get his call due to heavy #QRN. I was completely amazed, I didnโt expect to work Europe on 40m SSB with 5W in the middle of the afternoon. Larry has a contest grade station so that helped, of course.
Yesterday I activated Mt Disappointment, VK3/VC-014 with the aim to test a #QMX on #SSB. The wx was cool & windy with a storm sweeping in from the N-W. #Antenna - link #dipole, power - 4S LiFePO4 battery via 12V reg. Only QRV on #40m SSB and made 8 contacts from the eastern states...
Paul, VK3HN operating 20m CW on the summit
Arriving at a locked gate on Road 8 at the junction of Carters Gap Road
Sunset on Mount Vinegar
Yesterday Paul, VK3HN and I did a #SOTA activation on Mt Vinegar in the #Yarra Ranges. We drove in on Carters Gap Rd and parked at a locked gate, walking 5.3km from there. Paul worked 4 contacts on #20m #CW and I worked 2 on #40m #CW and 16 on #SSB. We packed & walked down in the dark! #AmateurRadio
We're loving the view of New Norfolk from Pulpit Rock Lookout, but don't tell anyone!
I'll watch the recording later, like many I don't have FB. Just wanted to express my support for this effort. The decline of Insiders has been a disappointment for us. It was a Sunday morning tradition with a cooked breakfast!
I visited Mt #Buller (VK3/VE-008) in Victoria's High Country today for a #SOTA activation. A #solar_storm made the going tough, but two S2S contacts and two VK3s got me there. #Dipole antenna and 8W #SSB radio were set up below the summit to avoid interfering with the fire watch tower. #AmateurRadio
Having spent my working life in #electronics, I'm the one in our family with the skills to fix anything electrical that breaks. In this case, Christmas tree lights that were chewed by a cat, then run over by a robovac! I saved my daughter from having to buy a new set with #solder and #heatshrink.
We have king parrots visit us frequently at our home on the north edge of Melbourne. Beautiful, if a bit sassy!
