Rachel Reeves to make new push for greater single-market access Some member states, led by France, expect the UK to pay into the EU budget in return

β€œReeves has been ratcheting up the rhetoric on closer EU relations which she described as the β€œbiggest prize” in trade”

If only we’d acknowledged this BEFORE we threw it away in a fit of arrogant prejudice. Getting back in the room is far harder than flouncing off

Social media ban. Today I voted to ban harmful social media for children. We cannot allow scrolling to become the new smoking.

We cannot allow scrolling to become the new smoking and leave children to be exploited by addictive algorithms.

I am proud to have voted to ban harmful social media today in Parliament.

It is absolutely vital that we protect our democracy from foreign influence - be it through political donations or on social media.

Power ought to lie in the hands of the UK public, not foreign states or individuals.

Lib Dem Leader Ed Davey:

"Tax exiles like Isabel Oakeshott and washed up old footballers who mock ordinary people who stay in the UK and pay our taxes... As we protect them, it's only right for tax exiles to start paying taxes to fund our armed forces, just like the rest of us".

Plenty have clocked how Nigel Farage talks to women journalists β€” pure condescension: β€œlisten, love,” β€œgo write your silly little story.” Know your place.
No shock from a man who praises Andrew Tate.
The real surprise? It’s only being called out now.

*30%* ffs. I wonder what that figure would be by now if our media weren’t still almost exclusively populated by intellectually indolent wankers too pompous to admit that they never had the first idea what they were encouraging everyone else to vote for. (With a side of plums who deployed β€˜balance’.)

Our important work at Kent Council to spend Β£600k on a car park to provide free parking for Reform councillors while staff have to pay, is all part of our 'We don't give a shit about anyone but ourselves' policy.

Most people are not sexually attracted to children & would never conceive of hurting them, the #EpsteinFiles are forcing people to confront the fact that absolute monsters have been running the world for decades & their vast wealth, accrued from positions of power, has been protecting them.
Enough.

The United Kingdom is at its best when we’re true to our values: tolerance, decency, respect for individual freedom and the rule of law.

We can't let Nigel Farage throw that all away by turning Britain into Trump’s America.

Choose a brighter future with the Liberal Democrats.

The EU needs Britain's arms industry.
And Britain needs the EU economic and security blanket.
The UK's armed forces are small and impoverished, with their chiefs saying they face a Β£28bn funding shortfall.
According to a recent report by the Centre for Economic Policy: "By 2025, we estimate that UK GDP per capita was 6-8 per cent lower than it would have been without Brexit. Investment was 12-18 per cent lower, employment 3-4 per cent lower, and productivity 3-
4 per cent lower."
Other estimates put Britain's losses at lower levels, but there can be no doubt that Brexit has been a strategic economic failure.

"Tariffs risk making Europe and the United States poorer and undermine our shared prosperity. If Greenland's security is at risk, we can address this inside Nato," she added.
The EU needs help from the UK to do that. Britain has much to give the EU: its armed forces and military industries would accelerate and improve the bloc's security.
Trump's attacks on the very existence of Nato, his contempt for Europe in general, and his continuing support for Putin's land grabs mean that the UK could negotiate better terms for re-entering the EU now than it would have done before the US president tore up international law and turned on the US's oldest friends.

β€œβ€¦if the crisis caused by Trump is seized as an opportunity for Britain to rejoin the EU on terms that bind the UK to the mainland. This would make both parties safer – and stop Putin from dancing a happy jig around the Kremlin”

Time to fix stupid.
