Lovely!
Lovely!
There is a word for a government run by the worst, least qualified, or most incompetent people and that word is kakistocracy.
That countertenor (I'm glad you mentioned him, because I didn't know the term) was flat out amazing.
I love this.
I particularly like the tenor part...
Ethereal...
Beautiful...
Wow! Ely must have a wonderful musical program! I was interested to see the organist with headphones. To keep from having a lag between the singing and the organ, maybe?
I can't even imagine notes that high. Beautiful!
This was always the first hymn in out Christmas Eve service. The small church, Episcopalian in the most British of forms, would be dark. The choir came in by the light of hand-held candles (battery operated) and spread out around the pews. It was a wonderful way to get into the sacred ceremony.
They are both lovely, but I think I prefer the first one. A joy to listen to the differences.
You're right. the harmony was particularly wonderful. I wonder if the piece was intended for a boy choir. The female voices certainly work well, though. Lovely.
I look forward every year to your musical selections. This one was particularly ethereal. I've been to Ely Cathedral, but I don't remember it being quite so magical. Thanks!
Easy to do.
