I stopped writing for Twin Peaks fans several years ago.
Instead, I started writing for art lovers and those on journeys of enlightenment, with the goal of turning them into appreciators of Twin Peaks as high art.
There’s no such thing as free. Even breathing costs you — one breath closer to the last one. Everything else is just deferred billing. Grow up and read the invoice.

Most Twin Peaks appreciation is artistic day care:
Costumes. Songs. Comfortable theories. Donuts and Juice boxes filled with coffee.

Not what the show means.
What it does to the observer.
They were once kinda cool, like when they took a gamble on an 18-hour avant-garde film about a 25-year-old TV show.
Luckily, Showtime is now owned by Paramount... oh wait... no, that's a bummer, too.
Hot Take: Writing, Acting, and Directing Guilds have held back artists and progress in bringing stories to market for entertainment and profit.
A finished minute of AI-generated footage now costs about $8.
Hollywood spends tens of thousands on that same minute, without sets or actors.

It makes me so happy that Wrapped In Plastic still resonates with #TwinPeaks fans. I'm sure Craig Miller would be pleased that collectors are seeking out issues. WIP is but the tiniest footnote in Twin Peaks history, but perhaps we made a lasting mark. Making the magazine was always a labor of love.
The second you start reading interviews to understand the work, you’ve stopped trusting yourself. That’s not appreciation. That’s insecurity with a biography attached.

Gratitude to an artist is appropriate exactly once: the moment you feel what they made.
After that, you owe the art your full attention and the artist nothing at all.
I enjoyed this book. Very well written and designed.
I didn’t learn anything substantially new, but it was nice to revisit the origin story.
Now, back to the critical analysis that matters…
What you find is a meditation on witnessing. On survival. On what consciousness does when it can’t look away.
That’s a different book than the ones you’ve read about this show. That’s the one I wrote.
Chapter 13 of Enlightenment and Twin Peaks, “Jai Guru Dev,” is about what happens when you strip the director out of the room entirely and look at what the show actually puts on screen.
Most Twin Peaks criticism is really just Lynch worship disguised as analysis.
If this Warner Brothers deal bankrupts the Ellisons, that will a kindness to humanity.
Hollywood didn’t fail because the audience changed. It failed because the people running it stopped believing the audience was worth anything more than a ticket price.
That’s not a business problem. That’s a moral one.
