This is our city. We’re going to continue following & enforcing the laws to keep all Bostonians safe. And it goes without saying that our police commissioner has my complete confidence & support.

I have lived in red states for a while and the amount of people in this county who don’t respect knowledge and education shocked me. Unfortunately, they are in charge now.

My friends in my following list, please let me know what you think about this. And how we human being could walk through this. I am pessimistic at this moment

In this fight, I cannot make any mistake. Any unintentional mistake would lead to “hey you are not trustworthy at all”. But they still keep bombarding me with fake news. I think this is why “fact check” is not even a viable business mode for. No wonder why most companies decided to remove FC

Some of them would quickly turn into “well you cannot say this is 100% impossible”, “this still points out a valid problem that may have happened” modes.

I do not blame people. We are vulnerable towards social media. But this is really tiring for me. And I’m sure for everyone who seeks for truth

However, the consequences are almost always non-satisfying. People either ignores my writings, or read it, acknowledge I am right, but continue sending me more fake news. In the worst scenarios, people would get mad at me — of course, no one likes to be proven wrong.

I am deeply saddened by how people around me behave nowadays. They would throw at me fake news, telling me “hey see this”. I tried my best to analyze and find sources to support my conclusions — perhaps this was due to my PhD trainings. I try my efforts to reduce the negative Impact of media.

Media, including social media, are apparently not working on our side. By “our” I don’t mean liberals. I referred to whoever is sane and is pursuing the truth and facts. Because fact checks don’t make money. They cost money. Instead, spreading explosive fake news incurs more click baits —> revenues

This makes fake news and rumors spread much faster than facts and actual knowledge. Reading a fact is boring, and learning knowledge is a tedious long way. When was the last time you read a book, when was the last time you sit down and analyze a policy by reading from the scratch?

People get no time to focus on analyzing one specific thing. When it comes to news, the ones that have explosive title always caught attentions. A fake news can be wrapped with partially true statements, and distorted by bias and unreasonable conclusions, but still gain attention and propagated.

I want to hear everyone’s thoughts on the influence of media, and how we should deal with it.

Apparently, modern people are slaves of media, willingly or unwillingly. This is sad, but the reality we have to fact to.

I emigrated to this country through post graduate studies then job (the typical F1-H1B-PR path). Not gonna lie, I’m considering relocating again. What is happening in this country right now really scares me. Apparently people in the US don’t care about knowledge and education.

Different platforms attracts people for different purposes. I wonder how much potential the market of “sane” discussion is. Usually it’s very small. We may need to think about different purposes.

We need social media experts to analyze user demographics for X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok.

My understanding is that X serves as a news source. Facebook is half dead but still serves for keeping in touch. Ins serves as a personal account, and TikTok consumes your fragment leisure time.

we need a new social app. An app that brings in new features to attract users. Bluesky can be one asylum for us but a copy of Twitter won’t go too far.

A passable trans looks exactly like the gender they want to be, and you wouldn’t even assume otherwise when you look at them. For those trans people, I assure you you would want them to use the bathroom of their identified gender — because it would look weird otherwise again

If they don’t receive treatment early enough, hormone will make them look “not passable”, because they will pretty much look like mixture of both sex…. At some points, I don’t get what you guys really want from trans people. Maybe they just shouldn’t exist in your opinion?
