My Noibat just evolved into a Noivern and I thought they were supposed to get better in battles?

My Noivern is doing far worse in battles! He seems to be just playing with his new tail and maybe enjoying how it feels to have one too much to focus on the battle!

Anyone know how to train this?

Daichi the Rockruff. Alt-color (Shiba Inu). Daichi tends to be the more compassionate & friendly one of the duo. Talkative & deals well with others. But, he locks in when it comes to dealing with criminals or can become dangerously serious when it has anything to do with the safety of his partner.
