I know people are very sensitive about the use of the word βgenocideβ but the attempts to medically eliminate trans children is very clearly meets the standard because they are trying to eliminate a population and also they know some of those kids are going to kill themselves
Even more impressive! Enforced rest is often a good thing π
Massive congrats!

They unilaterally decide a theme. It's different to the UNWomen's campaign
They seem to profit from the merch they sell

For all you #diatom nerds out there - really cool new phyologeny paper, marking another shift away from taxonomic classifications based solely on interpretations of their feature-rich, silica cell walls.
From @wearequeeraf.com: "Publisher Men's Health has added 15 pages regarding the #LGBTQIA+ community that were removed from the Centres for Disease Control website, after a purge on queer content and advice by the Trump administration, to its own site" ππΌππΌππΌ

that's brilliant news!
#HPV awareness day.
HPV driven throat cancers are increasing in 40-50 year olds. With early detection they respond well to treatment so know the symptoms - neck lump, change in voice/swallow, change in appearance of tonsils. Even better get vaccinated and vaccinate your kids. #HPVawareness #cansky

Today is HPV Awareness Day.
80% of people will get a high-risk #HPV infection at some point in their lives. Unfortuinately for a small minority like myself, the virus will go onto cause cancer. But it can be prevented through vaccination. #HPVawareness #cansky

Excellent, if somewhat depressing, snapshot into the state of #Geography as a discipline in the UK Higher Education sector. Compiled by @jennypickerill.bsky.social for the @rgs.org #geosky

"The YouGov weekly voting intention poll puts Reform UK on 23%, down one, Greens on 21%, up four, Labour and the Tories tied on 16, both down two, and the Lib Dems unchanged on 14."
I got one of these requests last week. I'd not heard of this exercise before....
Twas amazing!! ππ
The boyf @davidadger.bsky.social also refuses to eat white chocolate. I'll eat it all however π
In the run up to Easter, timely study on how different types of chocolate impact the enviornment, and climate in particular!

Jumaane Williams posted last night that he was gonna make this video so I had been waiting for it β thanks to @erinbiba.bsky.social for flagging just now.
Williams speaks from a place of deep consideration for everyone involved and it shows in the way he discusses the impact and solutions.

Aw, thank you Barbara!
Loved talking to @ahenderson96.bsky.social on how running ultras helped me through the worst of cancer diagnoses, coming out as non binary, and the importance of claiming our (queer) spaces in established races #runsky #lgbtqi+
It's been a while friends partly because of good things, partly super sad. But now we have a year of fun travels in the works, so we're looking forward to introducing you to old friends, and new as we seek out cool new scientists to share their stories with you.
So watch this space!
I hadn't appreciated the differences among countries and the first sighting of the new crescent moon. Nor that British weather can be an issue here too!! #ramadan theconversation.com/moon-sightin...

Wow.
New post: LABOUR'S SECTION 28 IS HERE - ACT NOW.
I explain how the Labour government's proposed revisions to the guidance on "keeping children in education" are designed to erase trans children in England. But it's not a done deal - there is plenty we can do to oppose this.
Our new paper is now published in Earth System Science Data (ESSD):
