Words matter with autism, anxiety & ADHD.
When some one is in the pit of despair they donโt need:
A clever anecdote
A story that shows your suffering
A โthere thereโ to patronise
A โitโs not that badโ to trivialise the pain
Remember it is not your hole, so listen

Criminal Injuries Compensation - Hansard - UK Parliament
Hansard record of the item : 'Criminal Injuries Compensation' on Tuesday 29 April 2025.
Today this was discussed in parliament
hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2025...
Despite being assaulted years ago, Iโm still waiting compensation. Tomorrow Iโll spend money on more private psychological support for PTSD, as my life has to keep moving forward.

I know 'what I wanted' is not a great measure of anything but I think it's fair to say that many Labour voters wanted a government that held strong to its values, stood up for the vulnerable in society, acted against bigotry and took a progressive approach. We currently have none of the above. ๐

Imagine waking up every morning, full of dread & terrified about going to school. Now imagine being expected to focus & learn in that state - if you even make it to school at all.
This is the reality for far too many children. A whole-school approach to #AntiBullying isnโt optional - itโs essential

Semina Halliwell: No evidence authorities could have prevented 12-year-old's overdose death, coroner says
Semina's mother says her daughter "seemed to fall off the radar and through the cracks of policy" after making her complaint.
If the system supported these children and believed them, ALL deaths could be avoided. It failed Semina badly! ๐

I was reminded tonight that ABA still exists,
And I still can't believe the argument for ABA is either
1) Traumatize the autistic person so they deal with scary society "easier"
2) Make them as "independent" as possible so they can navigate society
You know what reduces functioning? Trauma & PTSD

Do NOT go into the evaluation without first reading and understanding the autism criteria and writing down every example you can think of from your life for each one...

I think #inclusion has to start with values and I'm not convinced that Ofsted can find a way to measure those, especially when there's so much focus from them on meeting goals. It seems to me that inclusion is about finding ways to be flexible and that doesn't mix well with hard targets. #EduSky

If you're the education secretary and you're feeling the need to criticise both parents and schools simultaneously then maybe you need to reflect on what it is about the system that is causing so many issues with it rather than just passing the buck?
