Today have a swift fox (Vulpes velox), a small canid found in the western grasslands of N. America. They use a den year-round as a shelter. Their dens offer protection from predators on the open prairie, with multiple den sites used by a family of foxes.

Fall is approaching, but most of the Sarracenia are still going strong. It's the time of year when spiders take up residence inside the pitchers, because they're not dumb they know where the bugs are.
