This #poetrytuesday we’re featuring Osmani Ochoa’s poem, “re: <migrant>futurism,” from the anthology Xicanx Futurism (Riot of Roses Publishing), edited by Scott Rusell Duncan. The first poem of the anthology, Ochoa’s work serves as an introduction to the concept of Xicanx futurism.
I woke up wishing to be in the presence of a world that no longer exists or is dying, got my wish, and it broke my heart.
I was crying because it felt surreal to see people I miss, admit we miss different times, places rotting away, laugh and grieve about how health conditions shape every day, never enough time to do all the things we probably need to.
She apologized for getting old, asked if it was bad for my dad at the end. I wanted to lie but didn't; she's suffering too much already to believe that it gets more peaceful.
They’re gonna subpoena Pam Bondi.
I hope she has the most awful time of her life, and I say that from the bottom of my heart.
Every day is a reminder to resist in our minds the dehumanizing insistence by those in power that, not only are some people's lives worth less than others but that certain people are meant for suffering so that others can live well.

Why is it that when I post about the Internment, a thing I’ve known about my entire life because it happened to my family, people feel a need to send me links to documentaries or books about it.
